The other day I decided the time was right to start my Halo 4 Mythic run and get my hands on that neat LASO emblem. About 48 hours later, and with a LOT of help from Tyrant (thank you, Tyrant) and heavily abusing the Save and Quit trick, I’ve managed to clear the first 4 missions on LASO.
I’ve seen a surprising number of people rocking the LASO emblem both here on Waypoint and in Halo 4 itself… so, how’d you get yours? Which is better, Solo or Co-op as far as LASO goes? What’s the worst part of the campaign on Mythic?
Infinity (Mission 4) was pretty challenging, but thankfully a great deal less frustrating than it would’ve been normally without Tyrant’s help; but he says the worst has yet to come.
I couldn’t even complete the first mission on LASO.
Each Elite is like an unstoppable monster.
It’s nearly impossible to kill them.
I don’t even want to think about Knight Battlewagons.
My friend was willing to help me so I used him as bait to make the enemies turn around so I could back smack them.

The first mission is a bit of a pain… it stinks having to fight Elites in the cramped confines of the dawn with only a couple of pistols.
But haven’t you watched Tyrant’s guides? The trick is to take out their support (Grunts, Jackals, Crawlers, Watchers, etc.) and get behind the Elites and Knights when they start chucking grenades at you; if you time it right, you can take them down with a single back-smack.
Tyrant also shows you a lot of fights that can be skipped, how to de-spawn some enemies, and how to spawn camp certain areas; it makes the whole thing not only doable, but in some cases, it makes it very easy. I thought Requiem and Forerunner were a breeze; Infinity was much more frustrating, but still much easier than I thought it would be.
Well, Mythic is considered single segment by most, and has to be Solo.
LASO, is another story. Just beat that thing however you can.
I, personally, did CLASO. Mythic is way too much for me.
Honestly, I could accomplish Mythic. But dedicating the time to do so, and practice at it, just isn’t possible right now. That, and I don’t feel like breaking 27 controllers ; )
Also, I did LASO solo, would rather rely on myself and be fully focused on the game than having a teammate distract me and possibly slip up and cause some sort or error or fail etc etc.
I had peace of mind doing it. Each evening after work, I looked forward to coming home and doing the next LASO mission with a 6 pack of beer. Was awesome.
Solo for Reclaimer, Composer, and Midnight, Co-op for everything else. <- This right here is the best way to obtain the emblem
The issues with playing aforementioned missions on Co-op.
Reclaimer: if both players can’t reach the soft wall for the sniper alley skip, one of them will teleport while the other player is in mid-air
Composer: if both players do not rush past the first airlock, the other will not teleport. Also, when you reach the second airlock and use the ceiling soft wall, one player must be away from the door; it must close to load the next area
Midnight: dat Broadsword run
I could probably do majority of Halo 4’s missions Solo with no save and quit, but I lack the willpower and concentration. I’m more interested in doing Halo 1/2 challenges and practicing for H3DS.
> Reclaimer: if both players can’t reach the soft wall for the sniper alley skip, one of them will teleport while the other player is in mid-air
Since I only had the other controller on without anyone using it, I had to find a solution for that, and I did. I dont remember how, I would have to go there and do it again.

I didnt really have any issues with this one. Didnt skip anything. Was the easiest for me.

Just skipped that freaking thing… Still got the emblem.
Also… You mixed between SLASO and CLASO to get the emblem? As far as I was told, that was not possible. Interesting.
Does blind have to be on to get the emblem? I hate blind!
Yes, Blind must be active. Unfortunate, but necessary.

I already mentioned a solution: both players should get up there.

Your comrade must have been one hell of a badass.

Been there, done that.
I cannot divulge…
> Does blind have to be on to get the emblem? I hate blind!
Yes, blind has to be on. The trick is to mark the center of the screen. A tiny piece of tape works but I used a piece of dental floss with several knots in the middle. I hung it down the middle of my display with some tape on the top and a weight at the bottom to hold the floss nice and taut while the the knot designated my crosshairs. When I wasn’t working on a SLASO run I simply removed the weight at the bottom and moved the floss aside.
To figure out what weapon or AA you’re holding just press the back button.

Composer gave me a harder time than Infinity by quite a bit. The enemies may be generally easier, but the battles in which you are forced to deal with them in make them more formidable, and unlike Infinity, it’s far more randomized and you have less control over the mission.
That’s why I mention in both my Dawn and Requiem guides to use those missions for training purposes to master the Covenant. By the time you get to Composer, you’ll need it and be glad you did

I actually found Composer to be just a little bit easier than Infinity… Midnight was probably the most challenging for me. That one battle at the 3rd tower near the end, where you have to grenade jump to the top and then take on SEVEN Promethean Knights… that part was hell.
I tried it with a friend but we got bored of it. The insufferable lag on Dawn didn’t help.
> I tried it with a friend but we got bored of it. The insufferable lag on Dawn didn’t help.
Try doing it Solo. I tried to complete Dawn cooperatively and got lagged out towards the end. As long as you follow Tyrant’s instructions (and exploit the convenient Save and Quit trick to circumvent the Iron skull) it can be relatively easy, even solo.

Dude I don’t care. I beat Dawn Mythic Co-op with the worst lag ever experienced in the history of mankind, I feel like a hero.
I’ve beaten the game on SLASO. I also did this with Reach (Hell out of pain, don’t used major shortcuts because I didn’t know about them lol, did that with weekly challenges. PoA and LNoS was the worst. I completed the package a week before the challenge so I saved it at the last checkpoint. On Monday, I just loaded it, dang and magic Challenge Complete) and with Halo 3 and ODST. (When my gold membership expire, it’s time for some old-school Halo SLASO).
