Personally, I can’t stand the DMR. I’m not going to go into how it’s unbalanced and overpowered, there are plenty of other threads for that.
I am, however, curious as to how many people are more or less forced into using the DMR in order to counter other players who use it.
While it is a cheap gun that needs to be fixed, it becomes much harder to outgun other players of identical skill to your own if they have a DMR and you do not.
I would love to use the BR more often. It is a fun, classic gun that I have loved ever since Halo 2. I just don’t get the chance to use it because, whenever I do, I end up being killed by the DMR from a distance that the BR just can’t function as well at.
Now I know some of you might say, “But the DMR is your most used weapon so your argument is invalid.” Think what you may, I only use it because it’s the most effective weapon to use against other DMRs. If it was balanced with the other weapons, I would gladly use a BR or a Light Rifle instead.
So I wonder, how many of you are in a similar situation? How many of you feel the need to use the DMR just to survive sometimes?
I’m not “forced” to use the DMR. I “USE” the DMR, so i have no problem.
Sometimes i’ll use the BR and then when someone cross-maps me i usually switch to the DMR muttering…

My exact response when i face BR users, lol.
Ever since I’ve gotten my DMR Mastery (and UNSC Loadout Mastery) I’ve refused to ever use the weapon, opting for the Carbine, Storm Rifle and Light Rifle instead. Not only is the gun too powerful and easy to use, it’s also an utterly dull weapon and not fun at all, since it doesn’t require any effort on my part to get kills compared to the other weapons.
The Carbine, Storm Rifle and Light Rifle are far more challenging to use, and thus much more rewarding. They’re also more fun overall, since they (with the exception of the Light Rifle, which is my least used weapon) require me to move around the map to get kills rather than just sit back.
The DMR has become a bigger problem now that 343i got the bright idea to add CSR, Im not a CSR fan. However ever since they put CSR back in the game all I see is the DMR… The DMR needs to be fixed.
For me it’s preference. I like the feel of the BR over the DMR, and when it comes to getting shot at across the map i’ll change my approach up, and switch to the LR if needed.
Lolno. I still dominate with the BR on smaller maps and the LR on larger maps.
i prefer the feel of the light rifle, when I got halo 4, I used the DMR because i hate the BR and liked the DMR in Reach, then I noticed how unbalanced it is, I switched to the AR for a while and now I’m using the light rifle because it’s a nice change (and the BR was originally supposed to work like it), However I’m annoyed people are using active camo + DMR, its a nooby combo. I am happy it’s in game, I won’t use it until the nerf comes

DMR and active camo, I don’t like CSR and it’s honestly ruining halo 4 for me

Of course I am. The BR is 1000x more fun to use, but unfortunately it’s just not viable. So sad.

yeah im forced, even acording to stats is my most used weapon…but the real reason is, impossible not use it
why? simple
let’s say anyone is smart enough to survive till they run out of bullets of a main weapon that is ‘‘not the DMR’’.
the 70% of the players on a match drop a DMR after u kill them…let’s face it, u have to take it even if u hate it, you aren’t going to run trying to do a double meele on people till u find again ‘‘another weapon that is not a DMR’’

Or you realize that the BR is inherently inferior in every single way, and you don’t like putting yourself at an inherent disadvantage for the sake of some “good feels,” but yeah, same thing.
I’m not sure if forced is the proper word, but yes, everyone not dumb uses the DMR.

The dmr itself isn’t OP, the dmr used in a team manner is OP.
If you ever play a decent “team”, a group of players that regularly play together, then you will need the dmr to survive. It’s really that simple, it’s range/ hit scan/ rate of fire are just unmatched in a team setting.
Sure you could be that guy, who’s team is getting slaughtered that sits in the back and goes 15-5 with active camo/light rifle (you have no “skill” to begin with, you all know who you are, but I admit you do have a brain in this context).
For those who don’t “need” the dmr, use a carbine, light rifle or br on ragnorak or exile. Then send me your 5-20 game as you get slaughtered by a team of dmr users.
