How Many Missions Do You Think Will be in Infinite

Ignoring the “Is it open world” debate, I’m interested in your opinions on how many missions you guys think there will be?

They’ve invested a lot of time, and money into this game, and there are many different aspects to this game. However, the story needs to actually progress in this game, that’s not just my opinion, but also yours and 343’s. So I’m just wondering how many missions do you guys think will be in the game. Will they be more open and less linear like in Halo CE? Or do you think it’ll be 9-12 missions which seems to be the standard (not including Halo 5).

wouldnt be surprised with anything from 7-15. gotta wonder if its gunna end on a driving level tho

I hope we get 16 real levels, just to set the bar for what can be in halo game.

In all seriousness I think it will have 8-10 levels

I don’t just want more missions. Several missions could work if they are long enough.

The history of the franchise is proof positive that they don’t need to go much beyond 10 missions to make a fully fleshed out and satisfying campaign. That’s a happy number, I believe, since it’s enough for a good amount of variety but not so much that you forget the first mission before you finish the last.

I think it’ll be 9-12 but they will also be more open like CE, even more so actually. Maybe to the point they could even put some little side missions in there.

I’d say about 13 with the usual 1-2 missions being cut-scenes oddly so guessing 11 playable missions. Anything less will be too short unless they decide to make big open maps with plenty of exploring.

8-10 seems to be the sweetspot. Any more than that is likely overreaching, but would be hell of a milestone. Keeping in mind that the h2 missions which were split into two separate maps were originally meant to be one mission, which technically makes them 7 very long levels.

Ideally without being exclusively a cutscene (The Heretic), without the QTEs, and without the intro/briefing/plot developing levels (i.e. The Armory, the 3 missions in H5; at least omitted/skippable on harder difficulties, it can be justified for easier settings).

The five Halo CE levels after PoA have immense replay value, especially SC (multiple ways to approach the cartographer) and AotCR. What ultimately makes the campaign is the sandbox and encounters. AI can be very smart, but if they don’t have decent firing positions or are lacking in numbers, then they’re still be overwhelmed pretty easily.

Infinite.

Warthog run? I can only dream.

8-13 is what i think, as long as the missions isn’t too shirt like halo 5

Hopefully it will have at least 15 missions.

I think 11 to 14 would be perfect. Arbitrary, yes; but those sound like good numbers.

What’s better in your opinion, a shorter mission with lots of fighting, or a longer mission with less fighting?

Oh no, this again? I hope 343 decides to make Infinite a game on its own.
Now the missions I think will be 15 main missions and lots of secondary missions

Longer missions with scattered fighting. Take a look at the Silent Cartographer, it is a large mission and there is no less fighting but the fighting is spread out so you can explore and chose your engagements, not just have enemies thrown at you like some schmup shooting gallery. You need to get to a fight faster, jump into a warthog. This philosophy that one must be shooting and fighting the entire game is one that ignores pacing, tension and over all design structure. Soon the action just becomes numb because it is always on, and that is boring.

(We is just a large amount of halo players)

Well we have to wrap up the Cortana thing in a satisfying way, and also we want the flood to come back in a meaningful way. I’m hoping anywhere from 20-25. You can’t rush either of those things, but maybe add in a teaser to a new enemy at some point as well

In my opinion the Silent Cartographer is one of the most iconic missions. I remember it vividly and to me it felt like a whole game at the time.

I don’t really want to see a standard 10 mission campaign I want to see something like 13-15 missions like Halo 2. What I think though is probably a 9-10 mission campaign again it’s very standard Halo CE, Halo 3, Halo 4, and Halo Reach had it, but at the same time, Halo 5 had 15 missions so 343 might want to keep going with 15 missions who knows.

I’m hoping for 8-15.

I didn’t mind playing through levels backwards in Halo: CE as a new mission. I don’t think there are any instances of that in Halo 4, I wonder if that’s why it had a lower level count?

Halo 1: 10
Halo 2: 13
Halo 3: 9
ODST: 10
Reach: 10 (without Lone Wolf)
Halo 4: 8
Halo 5: 15

Average of all: 10,71 = 10 or 11, which would fit perfectly with the games that concentrate on a single protagonist. If they go with multiple protagonists again like Halo 2 or Halo 5 then 13-15 would be a nice number.
