I’m curious to see how many games it’s roughly taking everyone to finish the weekly challenges. This week, it took me 72 games (you can check previous matches on HaloTracker). I did this without quitting any games to get a particular mode or using any challenge swaps.
Some of the challenges I had this week that were event only included: Get 2 killing sprees, get 3 killjoys, get 3 triple kills, x2 get 3 backsmacks, complete 8 Tactical Slayer matches, get X kills with the BR, pistol, or mangler, and get X assists.
Challenges outside the event included: complete 5 Team Slayer matches, complete 2 CTF matches, complete 6 Ranked Arena matches.
At a bare minimum, if I perform well each match and get all my needed kill joys, sprees, backsmacks, assists, and triple kills it would have taken me 21 games minimum. Unfortunately, as hard as I try to have challenges that can be completed at the same time (i.e., having all my Tactical Slayer challenges available at the same time) it isn’t always possible. Due to certain challenges taking subsequent games, it took 72 total games, and if you consider each game to be 10 minutes long that’s 12 hours of in-game time, and in reality, would have been much longer. I get that this week took me quite a few games, but 12 hours is a part-time job on top of working an already full-time job.
I haven’t come across much mention in regards to how challenges might be overhauled in the future, but some suggestions for this could be: Allow challenges to be moved around for the order we can complete them, have challenges that can be completed over several playlists, if after X amount of games and a challenge hasn’t been completed allow the player to reroll for a new one.
I’d also be curious to hear from 343i in regards to how many players are quitting games constantly in order to get a specific challenge, as most of my tactical slayer games had numerous quitters each game.
