Hey guys,
I’m curious to know what you think, regarding Halo 5.
I’ve heard that some say that they are anticipating the death of Master C. And I’ve also heard that some think that Cortana will come back.
Quite personally, I don’t know what to think because the little sneak peak at the E3 meeting I would say doesn’t say anything about how the game actually will be. It’s just to get people excited.
So what do YOU People think?
And How long do you think he will be in the Halo’s? Do you think he will ever die?
Thanks.
Sandhills.
And here’s another question.
Who do you think will be the next person that the torch will be passed on to?
(If it’s Sarah Palmer, I aint buying a single Halo game AGAIN!)
No offence.
And how do you think he will die?
(Ex; Old age, broken hip, ect…)
I’m curious to know the community’s thoughts.
I think that if he does die it wont be until the end of Halo 6. I would say 7 (as a new trilogy is promised) but I think it’s highly likely the torch could be passed before the final(?) game to a new progtagonist. Someone who the Chief will command “Finish the fight” so to speak.
Forever because Spartans never die!!! I wouldn’t like to see him die however.
If the series killed the chief then the series would struggle further. 343i were kind of pushing their luck with Cortana so killing the chief would be the last straw, the thing is when I hear rumors before Halo 4 about Cortana I assumed it wasn’t true because I found it to be a stupid idea that would annoy many people, yet they did it, now Halo 4 is known as one of the worst Halo’s I have ever played.
But that hasn’t put me off the universe since found Halo: SA fun to play while the story was a bit dry for my taste so hopefully 343i learn from their mistakes.
There’s two rule’s about any series…you don’t kill off the main character, that’s nearly killed countless franchises.
2nd rule if you do kill the main character then it must involve a plot that is a temporary death that is later undone in the same plot.

Uhm, I don’t know if you’re jsut saying the worst out of personal opinión, in which case just ignore this post, but if you don’t, I have some things to say.
The reasons for Halo 4 being called “the worst” lie in the gameplay, not the story, which even though had some underdevelopment for the villian and secondary characters, was praised for the intensity of the relationship between Cortana and the Chief.
There are plenty of games which kill off the main character and are pretty good even at its sequels.
Also, rule number 2 would invalidate any emotional impact that Cortana’s death had, as had been said earlier, making the entirety of the character development during the game pointless.
On topic, I don’t know if the Chief should die or not, but both options have their merits, like Chief being a soldier without a war to fight at the end, or on the other hand becoming some sort of hero-martyr for humanities courage of something like that, so I guess both, that he lives or dies at the end of the trilogy (or series) would be okay if they write it correctly.

Fixed that for you!
But I’m thinking that Master Chief should die at the end of his story, without anybody to take his place. It might sound a bit cliché to have him sacrifice himself to save humanity, but in any case, he should be killed in battle. Spartans were built for war, and it’s all they know. I don’t think John could cope well with peace for very long.

Did you mean that you are much offended at the idea of Palmer becoming the next hero, or are you offended that I don’t like that idea?
And I’m sorry to everyone out there who thinks differently, but Palmer will be the last straw. I wont deal with her being the hero. She’s nothing like the Chief.

That’s interesting that you think it sucked because of that.
The reason why I did’t Like it as much as I would’ve is because it was like a love story between the savior of humanity, and his A.I. It would be one thing if it was actually a real person, but it’s an A.I for pete’s sake!
I guess I kinda understand it though. They’ve been pals for a while now. Still though. It’s an A.I. Move on.
And look on the bright side MC… they might give you the highly obnoxious A.I Rolland to be your side kick.
I hope he isn’t around much longer, I hate how the Halo universe all centers on him. Really narrows the focus of the franchise.

“This is the Master Chiefs trilogy”.

So? I know it is his trilogy, doesn’t mean I like or have to like it. I do worry that Halo 5 will focus too much on Chief trying to get Cortana back. Not to say that is an inappropriate plot point, but if it is the one that gets the most action, that will be a terrible shame. I’d love to see more on the Covenant side of things, hopefully things that don’t just paint them as babbling monsters. I’d love to see more on the Didact that doesn’t portray him as some -Yoink- who just wants to kill humanity for some reason.

I’ve Read the novels, seems fine by me.

Yeah, it all just boils down to personal opinion. Like I said, I’d love for Halo to be more than just the adventures of Chief. Halo 4 really opened him up as a character and to have him leave in Halo 5 would be a disservice, but at the same time there really should be some kind of transition from Chief’s Halo to a post-Chief Halo.
Yeah, I see what you mean. That’s why Halo Reach was so awesome. It focused on another story in the Halo History book.
(And it’s campaign was just plain stinking awesome.)
I don’t think Chief should die at all. I’d like him to stick around and be the main character in Halo 5/6 (Maybe a supporting character in 6, who knows? That could be interesting). I highly doubt he’d be replaced by Palmer. I’m more worried about him being replaced by Thorne, that would be an awful move.
I don’t want Chief to die at the end of Halo 6, especially not in battle or by sacrificing himself (Although sacrificing himself would probably be the best option if he were to die. Trying to escape and not making it out of whatever situation he’s in after already completing his objective would be okay too though), mainly because it’s pretty cliche. I’d rather he live (Maybe we could see him training future generations of Spartans, or retiring), or have 343 leave his fate ambiguous.

Thorne as is right now, yes. A future Thorne who gets more character development and spotlight? That would be acceptable.

I completely agree on that. I was referring to Thorne as he is now.
Trilogy? Lol it’s no longer a trilogy…it’s a saga now.
