How long will Halo 5 last?

Do not create/use alternate accounts to bypass forum bans.

Halo 5 is one of the worst selling Halo games to date, and its population size is quite small for a Halo game. With these things in mind, how long will the Halo 5 community last before the game reaches a population of 10,000 or less?

I’d say a few more months.

Where did you get these statistics? I was sure Halo 5 was one of the better selling Xbox one games.

There are no exact sales numbers, only estimations. But from what I’ve seen, Halo 5 is the lowest selling main series Halo title of all time.

VGchartz estimations

Everyone says it’s not going to last long. But the truth is, with free content every month, this game is going to last a long time. Though people will leave after the updates, people are going to come back after every update. Also, when they add in new game modes(hopefully flood) this game is going to do just fine.

This will probably spike the population for a few days after the updates come out but if they’ve already quit Halo 5, I doubt that they’ll consistently play it again. Updates aren’t going to keep people here for long if they’ve already left. Not to mention the majority of the content in these updates are REQ cards and the REQ system is a RNG based system. You can’t guarantee a unlock plus, if you don’t play warzone, the REQ cards lose alot of value and the new maps they add are juts added to the map rotation. They probably won’t get the chance to play on that map that many times anyways unless its a custom game with friends.

Who knows. Who cares? There are people who really like the game and continue to play it. If there are enough people to find matches and play customs with. And enough people that want Halo content and make Halo content. Then we’ll all be fine.

And lets not forget the tragedy of MCC. If the MCC had launched functional Im sure more people would have planned on picking up the game. The new assassins creed suffered from the same issue.

Doesn’t VG chartz only track physical sales? I would assume it hovers around 60-70k as when SWBF had a population of ~50k H5’s was greater than it and after christmas SWBF’s population is ~120k and is now greater than Halo 5’s. Also, the population will only have increased over christmas. Source: swbstats.com

Why in the world do people make the assumptions the the population is dwindling. There is NO numbers to support this claim in any shape or form, if I can find a mach consistently in a reasonable amount of time I would assume that the population is healthy. But NOOOOOOO according to this forum the game died.

I think you’re right about it not tracking digital sales, but I have a feeling deep down that H5 is still the lowest selling.

It could have been the most bought xbox one game but many xbox one games get played more regularly and by more players. Halo 5 took a huge dive and even dropped off more after the forge update, it was only brought back to life by a Christmas miracle. So sayeth the most played list.

OT: People hung around for the forge update. The week it released it took about two days before Halo 5 dropped off the top ten. Players have become bored waiting for the new maps, old gametypes to return and promises of massive updates that leaves near everybody disappointed.

So two months and updates in and 343i managed to make everyone tired of the crap and leave. Give it two more months for the Xmas players to come to the same conclusion.

By March I bet they’ll be a good ol’ Bonnie Ross press release stating “343i have delivered the biggest post launch support for any Halo title ever and they are now looking to buckle down on Halo 6 to provide even more features at launch than even Halo 5 had”. All in response to low population and no money being made on REQ cards.

The game is great but the population is very small, since 343 is adding content, Halo 5 has a slightly higher chance of going on longer, but it could end up as Star Wars: Battlefront, which quickly died after a month, Halo 5 has survived for 2 months which is good

If you don’t like a game, surely you uninstall it and go play something else.

I didn’t like destiny, I haven’t bothered with it since two weeks after launch. I stopped playing and moved on. What I didn’t do is hang around the destiny forums moaning for months on end. Making up thread after thread about it being terrible and predicting its demise. Far too many other games out there to spend your time on.

As long as they keep releasing content for H5 then it will continue to have a player base. Aside from lacking content the gameplay and foundations in my opinion are solid. I enjoy playing it.

You will know it is dead when the forums go quiet

Hahaha free content every month…a few forge maps and remix maps, that were likely cut from the game? Battle of noctus was in a pre launch war zone trailer. Not to mention, free content will not fix any of this games problems, even if that content is great.

Nice name, OP.

If people start using this, then this game could last forever…

Oh wow, didn’t know that was a thing! Cool!

microsoft released numbers a while back. this was the biggest halo release. most pre orders ever. i think they hit 400 mil the first day or something. i’l try and find the source i read and ill make another comment.

this games is not dead or dying. proof is in the amount of teams who have enrolled in the HCS tournament, and thats not accounting for the social players

That was just saying it made the most money. Not that it sold the most copies. So that number has to include special editions and bundles too.

Also, this is just plain wrong. Both Halo 4 and Reach had more than twice the amount of preorders. H5G had about as many as ODST back in the day…
