They took down Halo 2 MP before Halo Reach was released. So once Halo 4 comes out I wonder how long it will be until Microsoft decides to pull the plug on Halo 3’s MP?
Halo 2 MP wasn’t pulled down, the whole original Xbox LIVE service was, which Halo 2 was sadly on.
Halo 3 is going nowhere, not while it is on the current Xbox LIVE service.
It won’t go anywhere anytime soon. Why would they release recon only to shut it down a couple months later. That wouldn’t make sense unless they plan to keep the servers up for little while longer. Even when they are shut down, people will still come up with something like XBC and keep it alive. The Halo 3 servers will remain up until the end of XBL and even after that, they will have a people upholding the legacy.
Don’t worry about it Halo 3 MP will stay around until the Xbox 720. Then we’re all screwed 
Halo 3 will be around as long as the xbox 360 has xbl service. Besides, a good game like halo 3 will stay for all the players that enjoy a good quality game unlike all the garbage that gets released these days.
Halo 3 should be around for awhile. As long as xbl is up, halo 3 is.

Maybe right befor HALO 4 drops and that would greatly improve the population and would make the game better
That means more fun even when halo 4 is out and hopefully will stay up until the 720 
XBL can drop H3 (WHO CARES) if H4 doesn’t ‘work’ for me, I’ll be going ALL IN on XBC and forget completely about XBL.
XBL is ‘unecessary’ for CE H2 and H3 now.
XBC if a viable alternative (and free).

Actually theres a good chance it will be shut down. Alot of games are doing it these days when the sequel comes out or they are a couple of games ahead. 343 has to pay for the servers for a game they didnt make a dollar from.
