So im getting this game at midnight at gamestop and my brother preloaded the game so i want to know how long the install time and patches are because i have other stuff going on later the 27th
I started to install about nine oclock and left it on all night and is only like halfway installed it is six in the morning.

is that for digital download or physical disk install?
Sounds like slow internet connection to me. I used fibre broadband and downloaded the full 55gb in about 5 hour

I’m not sure, but I think games installed from a disc usually install faster. Going digital you have to download the file on top of the installation. With the disc, it’s just the latter.
Realistically speaking, I could see it taking somewhere between 35 minutes and 2 hours depending on your connection speed. The 9 GB patch should be even faster.
I have a decent connection imo.
I started my download at roughly 7-8am today, it has been roughly 12 hours since then, it is at 78%

Yes 100% correct. Games that install from the disc ALWAYS install faster because they install directly from the disc. If you get a digital copy, you are buying it online from their servers. If their servers are extremely busy or your internet is slow, it could take many hours. Just like what happened with TMCC. Some people it took over 12-45 hours to download the game on the first day. Good luck. The disc will install MUCH faster. Around 1-2 hours.

This really boils down to your Internet Provider, your slated bandwidth and network traffic in your area. I was able to download MCC (60+ gb) in about 8 hours overnight on a 15 Mb/s connection.

It also depends on how hard the 343 servers are hit. The more busy their servers are, the longer it will take. The first day their servers will be VERY overloaded. Even more specific, tonight at midnight. Those that have not pre-loaded the game will have a very long wait tonight. Best to just start the download and go to bed.

It’ll take considerably longer than 2 hours for most people, especially considering the server(s) hosting the download will be getting heavy traffic. I have Google fiber, and using a wired connection it was much slower than other games I’ve downloaded, and I even did it a couple days ago.

Everyone keep in mind H5 is almost 60GB in size. For comparison, it is about the same size as TMCC. So however long it took you to install or download TMCC, you are looking at the same time. Even a direct install of this game from the disc to the HD will take at least 1-2 hours minimum. Downloading online will be much much longer. Again, very similar amount of time as TMCC.
Tip for Disc users: I have found that this helps my installations with other games.
- Take your disconnect your console from the internet.
2Next, install the game with the disc. - After installation is complete you can go back online and download the rest (Patches and whatnot).
This has sped up my download times for other games, and is what I plan to do with Halo 5 tonight!

So it installs faster without an internet connection, can anyone else verify this?
My god with these times…they really need to let you download patches before you get the disk…so sand to have to wait 2 hours to play a game you just got
it legit took me like two days for it to be done and over with. I would say upwards of 12hrs depending on connection, and my connection is the best money can buy
