How long have you played, and how bored are you with each halo?

I have played halo since the first day halo came out. Here is my opinion. Id like to hear what others have to say.

Halo 1: Great game, played it since 1st day of release. Never got bored of it.

Halo 2: AMAZING GAME, yes call me a loser but i played it 24/7. Never got boring.

Halo 3: Descent game, played it for a couple months. Then it got boring.

Halo Reach: HORRIBLE game, played it for a month and was already bored with it.

As you can see, more is not always better. Every new halo there are more things added that a great game doesn’t need.

Not true you could add more but make sure it is worthwhile.

Maybe you liked the first game so much because you haven’t played the same game 3 times already?

I thought I read it as;

  1. Played great new game that was fresh feeling.
  2. Played great new game that was fresh feeling.
  3. Played that same old already.
  4. Played that same old already and I liked the other one better.

Halo CE: Didn’t play it as much as I wanted. Too young and it wasn’t up to me.

Halo 2: I played that game WAY too much. Literally up to the point I got Halo 3 in my hands.

Halo 3: LOVED the game but not as good as Halo 2. Got bored of the SP within a few months (which is a good thing that it took months) and played the MP right up until September 30, 2010 when I got Reach.

Halo Reach: SP was very disappointing. So many missed marks and it was short. (first playthrough was in Heroic and it took 3 sittings). Not that replayable. The MP has been on and off. AA’s get in the way for me.

Personally, I would like to see Halo 4 return to Halo 3’s style of playing for me. I loved that game a lot, though didn’t play it as much. CE and H2 were always fun, but a little bit meh. Great games, but always lacking something for me.

As for Reach, well, I haven’t played it seriously in months.

More is not always better, but in some cases, if you do it right, more makes the game amazing.

Besides, why would you want H4 to return to CE roots when you’ve got the CE anniversary coming out.

1.) played great new game with enormous skill gap

2.) played same great game with the same enormous skill gap (even if a tad bit smaller)

3.) played same good game with a lot less of the skill gap it once had

REACH.) played halo, dumbbed down as much as possible:

  • plus jet pack, minus map control
  • plus armor lock, minus skill, plus wide-spread rage / contempt / disappointment
  • minus the ability to shoot better than someone and WIN a 1v1 gun battle every time, minus fun, minus intuitiveness, minus straight forwardness, plus convolution
  • minus the ability to perform more skillfully in close combat battles involving at least 1 melee, and get the kill every time. plus no-bleed, minus viability of shooting (pre-melees) of some close combat battles involving at least 1 melee.
  • plus sprint, plus the ability to get out-played and simply run away
  • minus almost all grenading skill and forethought, plus mini nukes.

how about this instead:
1.) played phenomenal game that rewarded skill, and dedication
2.) played phenomenal game that rewarded skill, and dedication
3.) played decent game that was pretty fun, but got stale after a while because of lack of skill gap that its predecessors had.
reach.) dumpster-tier halo game with trashy mechanics across the board.

honestly, if halo 4 continues the previous “EXPONENTIALLY LESS SKILL GAP WITH EVERY RELEASE”

it will have cooking tips in the loading screens because its target audience will be 12 year olds and their soccer moms. and if thats the case, dont even make it rated ‘M’.

30,000+ games of Halo. Halo does not get boring to me.

Reach did and I hate it. If Halo 4 is a carbon copy of 1 2 or 3 or a mix of all I will play it just as much and love it just as much.

The idea that a series will get boring because all the games are the same is silly to me. Hello! It’s a series for a reason.

If you don’t like HALO, go play something else. Let Halo 4 be Halo.

Halo CE: Wasn’t a gamer during halo CE era
Halo 2: Played at a friends house a lot during high school
Halo 3: BEST GAME EVER…seriously…Halo 3 was my bread an butter. I played it everyday religiously
Halo Reach: Total letdown…Halo reach blows compared to halo 3…I still play it though because its the latest one out (stupid reason, I know)
Halo reach IMO was dumbed down A LOT, I was pretty good at halo 3, but I could not get a ranked perfection to save my life. I liked the challenge of trying to get it. Ranked medals were something to show off, you couldn’t get them in grifball, they were legitimately hard to get. Everything just seems way easier in Reach.
I didnt like the ranking system at first, but the whole “credits” concept has grown on me, and I do like it now. I like the commedations

What I would REALLY like to see in Halo 4 is a more competitive gamestyle, like halo 3 was. Maybe keep the credits instead of XP, but still have ranked and social playlists, and an overall rank based on skill, not just time played. Halo isnt call of duty, I want to work for my rank, and then show it off, not just put in a bunch of hours just like everyone else can.

In the end, I hope they take some things from Reach (commedations, credits and thats about it honestly) and make a Halo 3 type game. Hopefully 343 will hear all these people saying how Halo 3 was so much better than reach. Im a little bit scared to see how 343 is gonna handle halo. It would really suck if they ruined it…

Precisely.

I think the general consensus is

1 + 2 = Kick -Yoink-

3 = fun

Reach = o.O

I feel like the real question is what will 343 do differently (or the same?) in Halo 4.

I think 343 should should bring it back to 1/2, take the equipments (leave AA out), and polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, and polish.

They story will be different for all the lore people, and the multiplayer will be amazing.

I have been playing halo since 1, and have logged more hours on reach than any of them. I love it. I personally think this Halo is the best one yet. Hate all you want but its an opinion just as good as yours. People say how horrible reach is, but everyone I talk to online loves it, the forums are for complaints, why else would you be here?

Reach might have a few minor flaws, but over all it is fun and feels like halo. I wouldn’t change a thing. But if your lucky, and it looks this way, microsoft will be turning halo into a CoD and you’ll get a brand new one to buy and complain about every year.
