How long for me to rank to General?

Well, I’ve always enjoyed Halo Wars, but more as a side-hobby. You know, pull it out ever couple weeks and play a couple games. I dont have any friends that play it anymore, so it really just comes down to whenever I feel like playing it by myself.

However, I’ve always wanted to get the “Running The Show” achievement.

I am 24,000 credits off of Commander, meaning that I have roughly 286,000 credits.

Now, to get to General, I need 2,400,000.

To make things easier, let’s just say I have 300,000 credits.

According to this, I require 2,100,000 more points. I dont know what the average points per game is, so I’ll just say “4,000”. According to that, I will need 525 games. If each game is roughly 20 minutes, It’ll take 10,500 minutes, or 175 hours of in-game time.

Is my math correct on this one? What is the fastest way to speed this up? I read somewhere else that 1v1 Deathmatch is the way to go.

I realize that someone else made a thread about how long till general, but someone calculated 57 hours, which didn’t seem bad at all, but when I did the math, it didn’t add up to that.

Oh really? I thought it was at 2,400,000. Well that’s a lot more reasonable.

So let me see if I’ve got my math correct.

Let’s say I get to Commander. That puts me at 310,000 credits. I need 960,000 credits for General, which means I need 650,000 more.

At an average rate of 5,000 points per game, and estimating that each game runs at roughly half an hour, I get the following:

650,000 points / 5,000 points per game = 130 games.

130 games * 30 minutes per game = 3,900 minutes.

3,900 minutes / 60 minutes per hour = 65 hours.

So once I get to Commander, I’m looking at 130 games, or 65 in-game hours.

Any idea how to speed up the process? What gametypes / strategies give the most points per game?

play deathmatch, be prophet and go temple, 4 factories, shield/summit, shield/summit.
put warehouses on all other bases and just spam wraiths or wraith+vamps.

keep playing 1v1’s and when you get Exile, grab as many bases as you can (it’s mjch easier when the people are lower ranks) and while you buildup the base and army unlock the flood for your units to kill and earn stars and points for a one up on your oppenent. keep it up, fighting flood every couple mins, and keep fighting off the enemy. if done right you can earn upwards of 30,000+ score in about an hour and a half.

i remeber i went up 200,000 in one weekend, and 160,000 the weekend after. 1/3 of the way in 2 weeks :slight_smile:

I explained that already. I made my thread because I believed their math to be incorrect, which it was.

And come on. Like there’s really any original interesting posts in the Halo Wars forum. “Post here if you play Halo Wars” ? Really? We’re in the dang forum because we play Halo Wars. Let people talk about what they want, and if you don’t like it, dont post, and it’ll die down.

Yeah half the threads here are stupid, but this thread wasn’t necessary either.

bb2010 knows what he’s talking about. General doesn’t take long at all. They’ve cut the amount of overall points you need twice in the past.
