How long does it take you to find a game ?

Hey guys, new to MCC but not Halo I decided to buy an Xbox One wanting to play all the nostalgia (mainly Halo 3) but it’s proving difficult for me to find any matches in most of the playlists, if I’m lucky I’ll find one in H2 Classic but it would take around 5-10 minutes sometimes more.

I’ve read that MCC had multiplayer issuea and players experiencing long search times was one of them so I’m just wondering whether any of you guys think that’s the reason ? Or is it just that the population of the game isn’t very high ? and I’de also like to know if anybody else has anythhing sinilar happening to them and whether they can give me any tips or anything.

PS I live in Australia so could that be the reason ? just that it’s late at night/early in the morning in America ?

both. MCC has lots of search issues but also halo 3 is a very low population. some guy posted the recent update on population, just passing on the info. id really enjoy more halo 3 games but search over and over and give up and go to another playlist.

Yeah I saw that post that said apparently Halo 4 has the largest population, which kinda sucks because it’s almost like we’re forced to play Halo 4, I still couldn’t find a match in the playlist though, I guess the matchmaking was worse than I thought.

Btw any idea where the OP of that post got the statistics ?

He got them right here.

Keep in mind that Halo 3 is 6th out of 13 and also is the most voted for in the Team Slayer playlist (which does not include Halo 4), so there is no shortage of people playing Halo 3. Hell, when I play with my friends that’s all they want to play. I don’t understand what’s the deal with being so damn picky and only liking one kind of thing. lol. My favorite is CE, but I personally enjoy them all.

And yes, Halo 4 has quite a large population, so when it’s an option in a cross-game playlist, it’s likely to win. That’s how voting works. And it was no secret that Halo 4 was part of this game and the playlists were all just a Google search away. And to be completely honest, there are 5 multiplayers in this game, so buying this to just play one of them, or essentially only 20% of the game, not to sound harsh, but that’s on you.

Other than that, I play Halo 3 all the time and my searches range from a minute or two to maybe four or five max, but that varies based on time of day and which day of the week.

Also, since you’re new to the MCC, in case you were wondering why Halo 4 is so popular this time around, they’ve fix a lot of the problems that the 360 version had. The Halo 4 specific playlist still has Infinity Slayer with loadouts as an option, but Halo 4 in Big Team Battle has no abilities, no loadouts (just primary weapon selection), no perks, and no ordinance drops. It’s like a completely differently game … like Halo 4.1 or something. Give it a shot this time and leave those preconceived notions with the 360, it’s pretty damn fun this time around.

There’s really nothing you can do at this point other than make sure your NAT is open. The game is still in a very poor state in AUS/NZ, 5-10 minutes is very normal in my experience, and while lower than optimal population numbers probably aren’t helping, there not the whole issue.

Last weekend I was playing some titanfall and despite having less than 100 people on the AUS servers I could still find games instantly, and thats not an exaggeration, I literally mean, - click search - loads game, longest wait was no more than 5 seconds.

The time of day in america is irrelevant as if you are in AUS you will be playing on AUS servers.

Personally one of the most annoying parts of the whole thing is that it kicks you back to the lobby after every game. So even if I can find a game in reasonable time (which does happen sometimes) I just have to start all over again, it makes the whole experience very frustrating.

Yeah, having to search after every match is annoying.

I can find games in Team Doubles and Halo 4 in under 1 minute. Even right now and it’s 5AM here.
