Jetpack is map breaking to have as an AA, as Reach has demonstrated. But it’s fun to have around, and when it is Equipment it adds a cool, non-OP gameplay mechanic. I mean, imagine how cool it would be if on some asymetrical map like High Ground, one of the attacking team could pick up a Jetpack to attempt to open the gate for his comrades. He couldn’t just spawn countless times trying again and again to open the gate, he just gets one shot, but is still a threat.
Jetpack should be a Pickup in H4. It should be one of the options for Ordnance Drops, and maybe there’s one that spawns every once in a while. So you wonder what button will be used for Jetpacking if it isnt Sprint or an AA? The jump button will be used. Anytime you tap the jump button with the Jetpack will make you just jump, but if you hold it you will use the JP. People won’t be annoying -Yoinks!- with it, because it’s like a Power Weapon or Powerup, it shouldn’t be wasted just like Overshield or Sniper ammo shouldn’t be. This is my proposal. It is an On-Map Pickup.
I say it should go away and never return. Seeing as that’s not the case, pickups are always better than spawn abilities. A one time use like equipment wouldn’t go amiss as well.
I like the Jetpack, it makes me feel like I’m Boba Fett swooping down on everyone. In Reach, I could take a Jetpacker down just as easy as a a person on the ground? What’s everyone’s problem with it?
If it has to be in the game, i suppose it being a map pickup would do the least harm.
High ground is interesting because I feel like the jet pack gets rid of any sense of map control due to how easy it would be to get up to the laser spawn, just my opinion though.

I meeant that it would be a tool for the attackers, who are trying to break map control anyways, but its much harder to do with one pickupable Jetpack that has limited fuel and only one person can use.
> Honestly, the Jetpack in Reach was extremely useful (especially on bigger, or multi-leveled maps (such as Breakneck or Sword Base)) to get from ground level to a higher level, or to easily get from one place to another, across a gap (think building to building in Breakneck, or platform to platform in Sword Base). Those that moan and complain about a Jetpacker, for lack of a better term, getting higher “ground”, ie jetpacking above eye level, need only adjust their aim. If you know how to use a control stick, it isn’t all that hard. Not only is the AA useful for the experienced and skilled user who knows when to use it, but it’s useful for those quick easy kills against an unexperienced/unskilled user.

> Myself, I only used/viewed Jetpack in matchmaking as a tool to easily get from one level to another (as I previously stated). It provides an alternative, and sometimes faster route (rather than, say, walking up a few flights of stairs, or taking a grav/air lift to a higher level (remember, I’m still thinking Breakneck/Sword Base here)). When in use, you’re an easy target from a player who has decent aim, so you have to think, “Is it worth the risk of using this AA to get from one level to another, and possibly getting killed in the process?”

Same here. They also have to give up Sprint in Halo: Reach, so there’s no running away! And I never lost map control because of some Jet Packers, they’re just flying targets and are easily shot down.

They’ve already taken notice to the whole “sprinting away” thing by adding a type of slow down while getting shot feature.
I don’t think it needs to be taken out. Toning it down would be a good idea. Armour lock is a good idea, just not five minutes of it. Same with Jet Pack.
OP you said it yourself. It breaks maps. Sure you could try to throw it in on some random crazy game types but it has no place in competitive mp. Sorry.
I see so many posts about Jetpack “breaking” multiplayer, but I have yet to read anything supporting this argument. Does anybody here have the -Yoink!- to back themselves up?
