How is this new controller scheme going to work?

Now that sprint is a standard feature, how are we going to use our other ability? D-pad?

As many others have said this seems to be the most likely version:

> Couldn’t you put the melee on the B button, a la the original trilogy, and leave the two bumpers for sprinting and you other AA? That way you can aim whilst sprinting, and control more effectively where you’re going. Correct me if I’m overlooking something.

Sprint is probably activated by left stick click…

I too am curious about how they will impliment this.
Unless they make grenades equipable by d-pad and move sprint to the Left trigger.
shrugs I dunno. =/

I’m going to compare it to Reach’s default control scheme.

A - Jump
B - Switch Grenade Type
X - Reload
Y - Switch Weapons
LT - Throw Grenade
RT - Shoot
LB - Armor Ability
RB - Melee
LS - Crouch
RS - Zoom
Dpad - NOTHING (Multi-player)

Here is my suggestion for Halo 4’s default control scheme. I left B and X open for either reload or sprint because I don’t know which one would feel more comfortable.

A - Jump
B - Reload or Sprint
X - Reload or Sprint
Y - Switch Weapons
LT - Throw Grenade
RT - Shoot
LB - Armor Ability
RB - Melee
LS - Crouch
RS - Zoom
Dpad - Switch Grenade Type

As long as I still have Bumper Jumper I will be happy .

Most likely it will be exactly like Reach’s only the bumper melee will be replaced by our secondary AA (2 bumpers = 2 AAs). Melee will go back to B where is always was, and grenade types will be mapped to the D-pad.

Maybe sprint will replace crouch in the left thumbstick and crouch will be the down on the d-pad. LB would remain as the armor ability button and X will be for grenades.

Maybe they use D-pad to switch between your ability and sprint? Like you can use your ability with LB, then if you want to sprint you hit left/right on the D-pad and then use LB again to sprint and vice versa. I doubt they’re gonna change the crouch button.

i would like to see every button customizable. just go to the button(s) and scroll down the list of actions to put on the button.

Not a bad idea with switching between sprint and your ability, only problem is that it might be mixed up a lot when in the heat of battle.

Change grenades with left and right on the d-pad respectively.

I just hope it is close to the Reach default control.

How about complete customization?

Scratch my idea, this would work perfectly.

each d-pad direction has a grenade? up for frag, down for plasma, left for some forerunner crap and right for something else, maybe the power drain from halo 3 in grenade form.

Like said already, I would imagine grenade switching will be moved to dpad. 2nd AA will fill the newly open button.

That’s actually a pretty great idea, people would be able to switch to their grenade option of choice without having to scroll through three other grenades (which got really annoying in Halo 3).

Agreed.
