I have not played in Halo Wars game but how is it any different from Halo Wars 1? Nothing sets it apart and different compared to Halo Wars 1. The obvious things tat are expected in a RTS sequel, new story/campaign, new maps, new factions. But this game is still only 2 factions, most RTS games have at least 3 factions and a bunch of sub factions, did Halo Wars 1 even have sub factions?
They need to make it different compared to Halo Wars 1 like MORE DAMN MAPS! Halo Wars 1 only had 18 maps and 18 maps for a RTS game is pathetic, they need at least 30 maps at launch and 30 more in DLC. They also need a map editor.

Didn’t play HW2 beta, but based on what I watched the control scheme and leader mechanics are different, along with what u require to build certain units, and individual unit population counts have changed
Looks better. Cool classic-style cutscenes in this age of doubt for the series. UI and gameplay is way smoother and a little larger scale.
And Kodiaks. I love Kodiaks.
They need a map editor to truly set it apart from Halo Wars 1 because Halo Wars 1 is getting re-mastered and re-released. They also need at least 30 maps at launch, Halo Wars only had 18 maps, that is pathetically low for a RTS game. They also need 5vs5 maps, that would be great or at least 4vs4, I think Halo Wars was limited to 3vs3.
There is no need for 30 Launch maps and another 30 DLC maps. That’s ridiculous. Looking to Starcraft 2, again, every couple of seasons should see a refresh of all-new or remixed maps. This is something that works tremendously well for SC2, and is not a pay-DLC.\
In response to OP, the beta played quite differently from HW1.
- The units all have vastly different strengths and uses in the beta. Specifically, infantry have a much more boosted role, and heavy vehicles are somewhat underwhelming - There is now a leader power tree instead of one preset power + faction-common powers - There’s a new resource, changing the base allocation dynamic - Tech leveling has been changed from reactors to a new scheme - New controls like proper Control Groupings - Slightly improved unit pathfinding - new units…
It’s quite different. Maybe try playing both before passing judgement, saying that they are virtually the same.
