Like are they taking missions? If so how are they not dead yet? In halo new blood, it is said that no Spartan has ever outlived a regular person, also how did the multiplayer Spartan come from a Spartan II to a III to a Spartan IV? Also when the multiplayer Spartan in h3, bungie didn’t specify that they were in wargames, so did they just become apart of the insurrection? Or were they just rouge?
Multiplayer in Halo was non-canon until 343 took control of the franchise. Now the idea is that the war games are simulations, training exercises for Spartan IVs on Infinity.

Just repeat to yourself “It’s just a show, I should really just relax.”

Just wanted answers
At the time, the oldest Spartan IIs would have still been combat effective. The point New Blood as trying to make was that no one really knew what would happen if a Spartan wanted to retire.
And H:CE through Reach simply had multiplayer as a non-canon element. The idea of multiplayer as war games Simulations didn’t come until H4.
Right now, pre-Halo 4 multi players are sort of in a quasi-canon place; they’re sort of retroactively classed as War Games but not necessarily. And War Games is general is a bit of a grey area: war Games itself is canon, but the player experience isn’t.
Why does multiplayer have to be canon it makes no sense. Spartans playing grifball?

It’s dumb. Multiplayer shouldn’t be canon. It’s a stupid shoe-horning of a gameplay venue into the story line for no real purpose.

343 really came in too hot with the whole Infinity theme in Halo 4; I feel like they wanted to show off its full size by showing that they could fit an entire War Games training simulation on the ship. They kind of backtracked in Halo 5 by removing the Infinity aspect of War Games, but at this point I don’t really see any point in retconning the entire War Games thing.

Its so stupid and its annoying to constantly hear that its a simulation in warzone

I guess that’s the Spartans official sport, it’s probably their basketball but with more death

Soldiers play games to cool off and exercise. Go to any military base in America or elsewhere and you’ll see men in uniform shooting hoops or passing a pigskin or kicking a soccer/football around, clowning.
Why would Spartan-IVs (who for the most part are former soldiers augmented upwards) be any different? That was the point of the exitance of Ricochet back in Halo 4. A Spartan’s game; full contact, no holds barred.

Some people seem to have problems with the idea that Spartans are still humans or that it’s possible to be a elite super soldier (or just a regular elite) unless you’re a super-stoic robot without a personality.

How did they get the Promethean and Covenant to agree to “simulating” the conflicts? Might be canon but doesn’t make sense at all.

Probably by not getting them involved; the UNSC has AI, holographic tech and prior experience with those enemies abilities and fighting-styles.

That still does not make sense for the following reasons:
- Holographic enemies can’t do damage to physical entities.
- If the UNSC had the technology to reproduce warping Promethean soldiers and the Warden, the UNSC would have won against the Forerunner forces by now.

Both of those points are irrelevant; it’s a simulation, by definition it’s not real. No damage, no death, no threat. Essentially a big Halo version of the Holodeck from Star Trek.
The first is also inaccurate as Forerunner tech has shown light constructs can cause damage, including holograms like the one used by the covenant heretic leader. The UNSC also happens to be salvaging Forerunner tech.
