How is the community going to experience Forge with each other until March?

This game has a skeletal population, so the make more friends and invite more people argument is flawed.

It’s possible to start custom games on your own, even if none of your friends are online, it just takes a random amount of time each attempt, much more time than a Custom Games Browser or a Community Playlist. Even if you use the LFG option it could still take time to fill up your lobby properly, depending on how many groups are available or what Forge content you’re trying to play. I remember in the old days, inviting random players for like 30 minutes, sometimes longer, until the lobby was full enough to start the game. Some players would leave, some would stay, nothing was guaranteed outside of the matchmaker though. Nowadays, most people won’t join random games or parties that much anymore. You’ll be stuck sending messages asking players to come try your Forge content like those robot accounts that randomly add and message you.

And another question I have is… will we be able to complete Challenges or Battle Passes in Forged Custom Games?

Is making friends hard or something? I know that seems like a loaded question but I genuinely don’t get it.

It might be hilarious, given ME but like. You’d be surprised.

My back up plan is MW2 and Warzone 2.0 I’m sure others here will be over there too.

Im really interested in the raids… Oh I also have Pokemon Scarlet as another backup

Just to be clear, is this the envisioned pathway?

  1. Find others interested in playing a certain game mode either by cold-calling them from your friend list or using some offline tool like a forum or Discord something
  2. Create the desired game mode or find it in file share
  3. Schedule and coordinate a time to play with everyone
  4. Hope everyone shows

Is that it for now?

It’s more about finding people that aren’t annoying to play with

All the people that I like playing vidya with deleted the game lol

Most people can’t even find friends to start parties before entering. I’ll be shocked if they’ll take the time to do it to play custom games without the custom games browser…

Most people are lazy and don’t want to put forth any effort at all when they play. Even if it will greatly benefit them in the long run doing so. They want it all automated. Why you see often people complaining about solo queuing in team oriented games, they want to AI Matchmaker to do all the work for them, even if that request is really unrealistic and complain when they don’t get the results they were hoping for.

Sorry to hear that.

To be fair, my friends sadly can’t keep up. So I DO have to rely on matchmaking.

IMHO Releasing Forge without a Custom Game Browser is just Wrong!!

How in the hell are you going to be able to show off your new forge maps if there is NO DAMN CUSTOM GAME BROWSER??

I would really like to know!

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

File share. Just like we did in 2007.

You could see screenshots, download and share files, game clips, entire films, everything, It was revolutionary. In 2010 we could tag things.

People were devastated when Halo 5 had no real file share to speak of, and tried to handle everything on-website. Halo 5 was the first Custom Games browser we got.

Nine. Years. we thrived without one. We do not need it, it is a convenience.

But it is GOOD to have and I do want it.

It will come in March. But we didn’t have one for nine years and it was fine. We can wait and play the old way, for six six more months.

I think the filesharing systemwill help. also 343 seems to be contemplating putting popular or top teir forge maps into actual playlists. (if I am interpreting them right.)

File Share is going to awesome!! My question how are we going get people to join you Custom Game if there is NO CUSTOM GAME BROWSER!

The reason I want to know how is I’ll will have some custom maps and I would like to have people come and check them out! So how do I do that?

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

Errrrm Halo Custom Edition had in-game map downloading years before that… You’d click on a server at the custom game browser and the map would start downloading if you didn’t have it. Also, if you’d like to see how a map looked like before downloading it, you’d simply visit hce.halomaps.org and check it out.

I guess you make the map and add all the relevant key words people would search for.

Then you spruik it a bit. Hopefully we’ll have a separate forum here on Waypoint for Forge / Custom gaming.

If your map or actual game type is any good it will get plays and votes. If it’s good enough it will get promoted in game.

It will give a chance for the cream to rise.

And the onus is a bit on us. For example, I would be very happy to maintain a thread on classic map remakes. eg. a simple list of all the old maps by game. Eg. For Beaver Creek you would have a list of any remakes, and a small comment about classic vs reimagined. Game types available. If they are set to editable. etc.

I disagree. The game is practically on life support, 4-5 months will see whatever interest it gains back gone when people deal with the ever present desync issues and lack of real content added since launch.

So are you advocating to withhold forge until the customs browser is ready?

Honestly they cant now that its so close to the set date, people would be even more pissed. Waiting until they couldve dropped the full package would have been far better for player retention. Doubt the “ill check back in for forge” folks would have cared much if it got pushed back since they’ve basically moved on already.

Did people never play Halo 3, Reach, 4, or 5? None had a CGB. Yet they, specifically the earlier ones, were revolutionary when it came to Customs.

Quit saying “Omg it’s a HUGGGEEE mistakeeee”. It’s not. It would be a mistake to not launch Forge if it’s ready (beta or not). It’s extremely easy to promote and share files online, especially if we did it back in 2007.

Look to be honest I could care less if any of my maps make it in some rotation to be honest. I just want the damn custom game browser so I can run my own custom maps!! Sorry that is how I feel about it!

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

It should had been released on the same day Halo Infinite was released!

Just wish Beer Keg could have made a Custom Game Browser for Halo Infinite!
believe it or not it is still up and running lol
