How is the AR underpowered in ZB?

With bloom, it caused a player to pace shots at longer range, and spam at medium-close range.

With no bloom, long-range encounters go by faster. In close quarters with zero bloom, there is a smaller reticule and less aim assist; ergo, more need to aim. The Assault Rifle is a close-range weapon, practically useless at anything outside that. I don’t understand the argument about the AR being any more useless. It is the same level of uselessness than it was when we still had bloom. Nothing made the AR magically weaker, the DMR still has the same fire rate.

So could someone tell me where this argument came from? Why does the AR need no bloom, either? It is a close range weapon.

I have said this 1000 times ^.

You have to understand, that it is bad players that run in a straight line holding down the trigger on the AR, that think it is underpowered.

Because kids like to use the AR as a utility weapon which it is not. The DMR is maybe 10% stronger close range than it was before (if that) as you used to at least have to wait for the head shot a little. But I agree, up close the AR is barely any more useless than it already was.

I thought the AR still had bloom in the zero bloom playlist, no? Doesn’t the removal of bloom only affect precision weapons?

It does still have bloom.

OT: Still no answer?

Yes it does. He’s saying that whether the DMR has bloom or not, it doesn’t make the AR any more useless than it already was.

It’s not because CQB weapons like the AR actually become worse, but because the lack of bloom grants the DMR, the Magnum, and the NR a boost in their effective RoF, forcing CQB weapons further into a niche and making them relatively underpowered when compared to precision weapons.
The DMR in ZB is somewhat balanced out because it’s reticule is smaller and thus is a bit harder to use in CQB…but auto-aim isn’t really diminished, and that isn’t really enough, IMO, to balance out it’s ability to kill faster than CQB weapons in most ranges.
The NR has the benefit of being fully automatic…with no spread whatsoever, and it and the Magnum both gain a damage boost in with the shield bleed through. Both are incredibly effective in close-mid range, enough so that they dominate CQB weapons in all but point-blank encounters.

Best way to determine if it’s underpowered: Would you drop your only mid-range precision weapon for it? If no, then it needs a buff, as each weapon should be as sought after and effective as the last.
