How is Mortal Dictata?

Have not been able to find it yet, how is it, and does it give an idea on where the universe is headed? Next game wise I mean. It’s seeming that all the resent media as in comics, and books, are really pushing the grey area’s and civil war.

I think it’s safe to say that the next game will be a pretty big departure, but it’s kind of worrying me that there seems to be no focus on a future threat that would lead into the next game.

It’s…not bad. Naomi’s fathers story is enjoyable and the look into Kig-Yar society is amazing. Halsey bashing is annoying, but at this point, not surprising.

I enjoyed it.

Lots of talk about food. I put on a lot of weight because of it.

But on a more serious note, Cobra is right. The dynamic between Naomi and her father was probably the best part for me since I really enjoyed the dynamic there and the deeper look in Kig-Yar life was interesting. And yeah, the Halsey bashing was pretty annoying. I had no problem with it in Glasslands and I don’t think Thursday War was all that bad but the “bashing” got on my nerves in Mortal Dictata.

And to answer your question, no. It doesn’t lead anywhere. The K-5 trilogy was pretty much our lead into Halo 4 but only Glasslands and Thursday War really got into that and that was establishing characters we’d meet. The third book was just tying up loose ends.

It’s a spy story that happens to be set in the halo universe.

Too much emotional feelings and inner thoughts (typical Karan Travis). So much dialogue with so little facts to take from it. ODST’s are becoming sympathetic to insurrectionists and their ideals (biggest complaint of them all).

Im on chapter 4, and the one useful thing I took from it all was insight into Kig yar culture.

I’m on chapter seven and I’m not liking it so far. Glasslands and Thursday War were much better imo. This book is really slow and the characters make stupid, stupid decisions constantly. ONI is only am effective because Karen Traviss thinks the haloverse is populated by idiots. It gets really annoying hearing ONI talk about how bad a## they are when they only do stupid mickey mouse Saturday morning cartoon spy bulls##t. This book kinda killed ONI for me. I’m ready to not hear about them ever again. Thanks Ms. Traviss!

I’m pleasantly surprised.

I actually enjoyed the book. A few Halsey-bashing, Elite-bashing annoyances, but it really did take a nice side step out of the story. It only came up for the most part in meaningful and more personal ways.

It’s a different kind of story for the Halo Universe, and not liking Glasslands and The Thursday War had me coming in with low expectations.
I was proved utterly wrong.

I was interested and actually hooked on the story. It was emotional and played out well. I don’t agree with many of the hate points towards Halsey, but it did make me stop and think about it on occasion.
The BB expansion was interesting, the Huragok and Kig-Yar expansions were awesome.

It was a pretty good story. Well away from anything else we have had in the universe in terms of type of story. I do agree that the bashing did get a little old rather quickly but I was expecting it. The background for BB was rather cool to and explains why he hated Halsey so much.
