How is Halo 5 these days?

I stopped playing Halo 5 ages ago now because it was one of the worst, if not the worst, Halo game in the series. Call me old school but Halo 3 is my favourite game of all time because of the way it played and the map design etc. Halo 2 is not far behind. 343’s Halo have never been able to come close to them. All just my opinion, i’m aware people think differently than me.

But my main question is what is it like now? The 2 main things that would bring me back would be 1, better maps, which I can probably safely assume aren’t here? 343’s maps focus on close quarters, enclosed combat, which plays horrible and encourages sprinting around with spray and pray mentalities instead of team shooting. The other main thing, which is probably the most important, is is there BR starts yet? I hate using the over powered AR (if the AR is still overpowered, maybe they’ve changed it?), and the pistol is an extremely boring main weapon. People wont agree with me and say the BR is too “easy” to use, but it wont be too easy if everyone has one…

Anyways, I’m not trying to rip into 343 or anything, even though it may sound like it, I’m just explaining my reasons for giving up on the game and wondering if there has been any significant changes that could possibly bring me back.

You gave up, DLC/add-ons aren’t going to give you a new game, if you don’t like it you don’t like it. I love it though.
Edit: DLC will however give you Griffball/Assault this week. Which I guess is kind of a new game?

The maps are mostly the same (though the new one Torque actually looks more open and actually great). And there are only BR starts in BTB/SWAT or (kina) in Warzone as far as I know.

Be we are getting gametypes in the next update, as well as the Hammer and CE pistol which is cool. Also Forge is bt far the best. The community is doing amazing things with it.

It’s still pretty much the same. Some claim it’s just as good as Halo 2 but it’s not. If you hated it as much as you did then I doubt you’ll like it now. They ruined Forge, Btb is over-run with forge maps, armour collecting is still about REQ farming, there’s just as much camping.

How did they ruined forge?

That is a shame. I really thought the game had so much potential, but the lack of BRs and maps ruined it.

It’s still the same, with the addition of more cash grab reqs.

OP, what would you like to see from Halo 5? Classic playlists with no Spartan Abilities, BR starts and on classic map remakes?

Tbh, not much has changed.

In an ideal world! Nah, but in all seriousness, I would like BR stars, obviously, on good, arena maps that are more open. Im just not feeling how compact every map feels, with a load of small rooms together if you know what I mean? I personally, am not a fan of spartan abilities, but I can live with them, they’re fine. If I had to chose to take one out, it would be spartan charge

That’s not even funny. Things like changing the layout and making it awkward to use or dumbing down the scale of the forge canvas.

So if 343 made a BR start playlist you might consider coming back? I get what you’re saying about how small the maps are, I think it’s because the Spartan Abilities give you so much movement that it significantly decreases the size of the maps. I wish 343 would just try BR starts and see how it plays out, I certainly wouldn’t mind.

I actually prefer Halo 5’s Forge over any other, although I do dislike how much smaller the canvases are.

Not much has changed, just 2 new awful maps, and a million emblems/armors you’ll never get or care about.

Its all too little too late at this point. Once again.

At least put Team BR’s into the mix! BR/Magnum secondary… A little variety in Slayer wouldn’t hurt… 35% weighting… GOLDEN!

Basically yeah. There really is no harm in putting them in, on either its own playlist, or rotated within arena. Like I said, Halo 3 is my favourite game of all time, but that still had non BR starts with a weak AR and an almost non usable pistol, but I still didnt mind playing them because they were rotated. I’m sure people who dont like playing BR starts can handle them sometimes surely?

Warzone is still good populated, arena not so much. It could take a while to find a match when searching BTB alone. Also team stomping in warzone is quite frequent, however it’s still possible to find decent matches alone. Unlocking cool stuff via the req system takes ages, especially when tons of emblems and other not needed stuff is released each month just to flood the pool.

I don’t get what the community has against BR starts, and I don’t get what 343 has against doing things that Halo veterans want. I’m not even a Halo veteran and I’m asking for a classic playlist and/or BR starts. I just wish 343 would communicate better and listen to us more, after all, we are their customers.

My opinion on 5 as it is at the moment.

Campaign = Mediocre
MP = Best in terms of overall gameplay
Forge = Bet in the series without a doubt
Customs = Will improve when infection and a decent file share is added
