Right now my game is installing this ‘small’ update which is 91.37GB. Please tell me how that is a small update because I would love to know.
Hey Luke. Do you have an external drive connected to your Xbox or have Halo 5 installed to and external drive? I have seen some oddities involving game updates and external drive, sometimes the X1 tries to update the wrong location which results in the entire game being downloaded.
If you don’t have H5 installed on your internal drive, copy it from your external to the internal and then try running the update again.
I’m seeing the same thing, 91.37 GB!
I have a external hd drive and its redownloading the whole thing you guys need to fix this issue some people have data caps.

Nope, I just have the normal Xbox hd. I downloaded the game digitally when it came, but don’t know if that would cause this issue.
Agreed, this is horrible for data caps.

Do you have any means to bring this to the support teams attention because it’s quite frankly ridiculous.
343 have already passed some details over to Xbox Live support (Source: Bravo) - it’s not an issue limited to Halo 5, it’s happened with quite a few other games
Well, that’s really, really annoying. I can’t download 92 Gigs of data when my cap is 200 gigs a month. I guess I’m done with halo. We had a good run.
My update is still updating since yesterday. Anyhow, I will just continue playing halo mcc while that gets updated. 91gb is actually taking a long time for Halo 5 gets updated.
I have an external and yes had to redownload 91gb… I don’t understand why they don’t want people to play their game. Or even worse why they don’t care if anyone plays this game. I want this game to be great and looks like you don’t. I’m fine with it series come and go, but the outlook for me buying something 343 related = 0% probability for the time being.
I got the same thing. I got home to play halo 5 but it said it needed an update. I thought that was fine but it’s a 91 GB update! It’s been updating for about a day.
Just got the issue, and am not running on an external drive.

The update crashed my xbox and now when I put the game in it does not even recognize that I own it. It wants me to buy the game again. Has this happened to anyone?
Yea, same thing happened to me just now. Was looking forward to playing for the 15 year anniversary buuut I guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Re downloading everything again. Seriously though how is this game 91.37 gb?? Also the game was not on my external hd.

It’s because when the game launched - it was half-baked.
Think of it like a moldy baked potato - and all these “updates” and “free” add-on’s are the yummy cheese, bacon bits, sour cream and chives on top.
The updates are needed - the game is broken and crap without them - the “new” (they’ve been around since game launch) maps ARE pretty sweet.
But you still can’t cover up the taste of that nasty, moldy potato that you’re piling all that goodness onto.
Now there are issues with all these req’s, weapons and skins making the game unstable.
Enjoy the download wait. I’ll let you be the judge about whether or not it is worth it.
