How In-Depth Should Halo 4's Stat Tracking Be?

Alright, I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time and I’d like to get this out there.

And before people proceed with spam involving things such as “Who cares about a number? K/D doesn’t mean anything, etc.” At least hear me out.

I’ve always been very fond of stat tracking with my games and the idea of being able to see how I stack against both my friend and the overall community. So, this add the question: What can we expect with Halo 4’s stat tracking system?

Halo Reach’s Stat-Tracking without a doubt was a bit more in depth than Halo 3’s, but I want something more. I want more depth with my stats, something along the lines of what Halo Tracker’s in-depth stats provide.

I want to see things like which player I perform best/worst with, which game I’ve done the best/worst in, my headshot/stick ratio, you know small things like this.

I don’t honestly see why this would be an impossible feat, and I do understand that sites like Halo Tracker and also Halo Charts before that offer such things which arouses the question should we keep the mediocre stat tracking simply for those site’s sake alone?

It is something to consider, in the very least. I just like the idea of seeing every last aspect of my gameplay, down to my best weapons on specific maps, and the various other things I listen before. It allows for improvement and more personal challenges I can set for myself in order to keep myself occupied.

It would also help inspire a little more ‘friendly’ competition among the community members with the addition of a learderboard.

So, thoughts on this subject?

there should be an overall stat for everything ex: K/D, accuracy etc.
but there should also be a monthly one i think that would be real nice =)

Maybe have a flow chart kind of set up that shows how well you do month to month/week to week, I believe Halo Charts had a similar system.

Any form of graph or chart would be incredibly useful in my opinion.

I agree. I want to know everything that happened during my last match so I can look back and learn new tricks or strategies.

Hell, I would even want to know how many footsteps I took in a match.

Exactly my point. Halo Charts is one of the things that actually helped me improve myself at Halo, via setting challenges for myself and simply having access to so many miscellaneous stats that some would find unimportant. Not only this, but a lot of this information is simply interesting.

For instance, one thing that must stay are personal heatmaps and the game overview feature. These give me access to information that can lead to all the difference on the battlefield. I know which areas I should avoid which areas I am most comfortable in and areas that I may wish to test out in my next match.

I just want as many stats as physically possible, for instance something showing how unique my player model and emblem are compared to the rest of the community. I like being a unique and deadly snowflake, so something like this could help me keep this title.

I just want everything that i am used to from Bungie.net, but i want it accessible from the game. i don’t want to have to go to my PC or switch to the Halo Waypoint app.

yes i agree totally with you i enjoy comparing my stats with others and something more in depth would be great but if it doesnt happen reach stat tracking still works

In game there should be nothing. All stats should be tracked on Waypoint.

I completely agree with this, I like seeing how well I’m doing each match and possibly compare it.

> In game there should be nothing. All stats should be tracked on Waypoint.

Are you on drugs?

Seriously though, did you flunk math or do you have a pathological fear of numbers.

Not to be mean, but removing all statistical information would be multiplayer suicide, bruh.

Actually, I got through Calc 2 in College before I couldn’t handle it

Halo 2 had no stat tracking, Halo 3 had EXP and games played. That is barely any stat tracking, and the multiplayer was fine.

When I say “no stat tracking” I mean things like K/D. None of that should be in game.

We need accuracy and shots fired back!

I want to know how many Miles I have drove in the warthog.

> I want to know how many Miles I have drove in the warthog.

I like this.

I personally want all sorts of stats, including pointless stuff like:
Percent of time crouched
Percent of time motionless
Distance traveled on foot
Shooting percentage
Shots per game, career average
Distance traveled per game, career average
Health packs used
Grenades thrown
Grenades kill percentage
Grenade assists
Grenades thrown per match, career average
Average distance from teammates
Melee kills per match, career average
Kills per minute
Deaths per minute
Average kill distance
Average death distance
Tea-bags per match, career average

All of these and MORE like them should be viewable in game, and comparable with friends and recent players. The more statistics the better. Maybe even add charts and graphs.

Why would someone NOT want in-depth stat tracking?

The only we need are privacy settings, because some people don’t like others judging them by their stats.

> The only we need are privacy settings, because some people don’t like others judging them by their stats.

I wonder how sports, high-school and up, would deal with not being able to ‘scout’ their opponents.

I understand some people being sensitive about their stats, but if you play in public matches with other people, your stats and playstyle should be available to the public.

Somewhat off-topic, but, I would like Waypoint to have as much stats as Halo Tracker. CR per day, KD by day/week, Medals by gametype, KD by gametype, etc.

KD should not be tracked, only win/loss

> KD should not be tracked, only win/loss

Just because YOU don’t like it huh? What an intelligent reason.

To yoinkin bad. Almost all modern blockbuster FPS games track kills and deaths.
Why? Because MOST people like tracking statistics and monitoring their progress.

You really think 343 will restrict in game statistics? Get real bro.

I love stat tracking. Honestly I’d like as much stat tracking as they can put in the game. They should also bring back MVP and track the amount of times you’ve been MVP.
