How I Would Change Halo 5's Multiplayer

No, I’m not removing Sprint and Thrusters. I’m not wasting 2 years of 343i’s time developing multiplayer and it’s maps. But these are some changes I would do.

First, I would raise the player speed. Just a bit, not to Sprint speed.
Then, I would lower the Sprint speed. Just enough so it would require a Sprint+Jump+Thrust just to make it to the bases’ upper platform/corner to the middle platform on Truth.
Next, I would raise player Health. Currently, a BR can one shot head-shot anyone with about 10-15% shields remaining.
I would lower the grenade’s range. The damage is fine, but the explosion radius is a lot.
I would also like to remove Slide. While it’s a nice idea, it doesn’t help the sandbox of Halo and isn’t as useful currently.
I don’t like the way Smart-Link is forced on every weapon. The energy sword should not have this feature, and it should just have normal range without scoping in. The Assault Rifle needs to be changed, the smart scope makes the gun too accurate.
The assassinations should be faster. They should be a quick kill just like Assassins’ Creed kills. Also, they should be first person.
Truth should be scaled down a bit due to the lower Sprint speeds.
Lowered bullet magnetism. Decreasing this would make Halo 5 feel a lot slower paced (in a good way) and help make it feel like classic Halo.
The artistic style should be changed. While this doesn’t affect gameplay and isn’t finished, some things are put of place. The blue team is too blue and blends in with the maps. The lighting in some maps are too saturated and bright. The undersuit of the armor should be all black, and more armor should be added to the lower body. The whole game is really bright, and should be made more dull.

So that’s all I can think of currently, if there’s anything I think of, I will add it. Thanks!

I’d drop the bullet magnetism, shrink the hit boxes, increase the base movement speed (at the least left and right strafe), reduce the grenade force and radius, increase the range of the pistol, reduce the damage on the SMG slightly, change the rocket model back to the Classic one, remap ground pound which would bring back crouch jumping- I’d also allow melee to cancel the GP animation.

I agree with all this, and there is no way sprint will or can be removed, the maps were all made with sprint in mind. And if you watch “the sprint” episodes. You can see just how much time and dedication the put into making truth for example. On the other hand I think that the ground pound should be a toggle option. There are some players who love it, and hen some who will likely never use it, so toggling or would be a nice addition. Additionally, many people don’t know this, but the new crouch jump has become a run jump and then thruster, but a player can then use the hover thruster to fill the remaining gap needed

I agree with pretty much everything, but also, something about Smart Link. I’d like the old view for it back as an option. For example, the DMR just doesn’t feel good when zooming, as that scope is obstructing my vision. I want an option to remove that scope from there. In addition, Smart Link should not be in Shotguns or Energy Swords. It will not work. Finally, it needs to be nerfed or removed from the AR and SMG, as they pretty much turn into automatic BRs when zoomed in. It’s annoying, and those are the only weapons in the game that have something close to true ADS.

I agree with every thing apart from slide as I like that, but for ground punch that can go as I never use it.

Good thread i only see very good and helpfull things said here.

some points i think they should focus on:

  • lighting, light sources are way to bright it should be turned down a bit.
  • grenades, the grendade blast radius should be turned down.
  • smart scope, scope shouldnt be on every weapon, weapons like ar shotgun, sword shouldnt have it, it can stay on SMG but then the damge of the SMG should be turned down because it is way to strong atm.
  • spartan abilities, groundpound should be different, it is not that it has to be removed but it should be switched to a diffrent button, first thought was melee because it kinda is a melee attack, but that wouldnt be good either because then you cant melee in the air. so now i think it should be something like sprint because you cant sprint in the air.
  • weapon timers, static timer should be fixed as now it sometimes is possible to have multiple of the same powerweapons on the map, like 2 snipers or even 3 swords.
  • sword, the energy sword is way to powerfull atm because of sprint (and the thruster) you can destroy people, you can run to the from miles away thruster and then lunge for a kill, this should be balanced more. maybe shorter lunge distance but then sprint is still to strong.
    -small things, if possible change the rocket texture to the classic one, and why is sword called prophets bane? not just energy sword.

i probably missed some thing i did say in other posts, but i think these are some of the major points most people can agree on, i hope that 343 takes the time to look at these and fix as many as possible.

one last thing:

  • ranking system it is not bad, but there are some things that need to be fixed, especialy quiters. i dont know if this is happening atm, but quitters should lose a lot of rank, and if your team has a quitter in it and you lose the game, you should not lose rank or at least not as much as usual because winning in a 3v4 because of a quitter is very difficult especialy if you have enemys that are as good as you are.

I totally agree games too bright graphics seem unfinished in places, Spartans have lost that classic feel, I wouldn’t change sprint ect, I would however remove one weapon from the game, the energy sword, just spent an entire match getting slaughtered by it usually from behind, emptying entire clips into the c£&t and getting nowhere, now I normally average 20 odd kills a match, except when the energy sword is present, also spawn killing is an issue at times. People teaming up in free for all, really grinds my gears. I also think overgrowth needs to go, it’s a terrible map so small and generally -Yoink-. Apart from these issues, the games great. Servers Are so reliable. And quick, was playing reach the other day and online was laboriously slow.
