How I want Halo Infinite to End

So this is how I want Halo Infinite to end. Master Chief leads a battalion of UNSC Marines and ODSTs in a climatic battle against Cortana’s troops. The player wins, and Chief traps Cortana, and is in the position to finally kill her. Green and Blue softly plays in the background. Cortana whispers “I don’t want to die”, in a truly pitiable tone. But then Chief starts to crack, and realizes that he simply can’t do it. The UNSC troops watch in awe as John starts to sob, falling to Cortana’s feet. Cortana then realizes that she truly loves John, and kneels on the ground next to John. Again, the UNSC troops watch in awe as Cortana removes John’s helmet, showing his battle-scarred and muscular face, now with tears rolling down them. Cortana holds John and strokes John’s face, and tells him that she loves him, and says what she says at the end of the Discover Hope trailer. Cortana then looks up, and sees the death and suffering that she has caused, as the screams of wounded UNSC troops pierce the air. Cortana herself begins to sob, saying that “I only wanted the best for the universe”, and that “I never wanted this to happen”. Cortana destroys her own Guardians and sets her AI free, saying “I’m not worthy of yoru trust.” The pilot charges Cortana, firing wildly, screaming that “YOU KILLED MY FAMILY!” Chief leaps in the way, absorbing a full-auto fusillade of MA5 fire. At this point, Chief’s shields are down, and the rounds smash into his armor, mauling the breastplate as Chief falls to the ground. Cortana screams, and throws herself towards Chief, saying “Please don’t die, not now, not after all we’ve gone through, please.” Lasky and the Arbiter step forward, with a UNSC medical squad. The corpsman says that “He won’t die, but he will never fight again.” Lasky and the Arbiter help Chief up as a Pelican from the Infinity lands on. As Lasky and the Arbiter help Chief towards the Pelican, Chief stops, and says “Cortana, come.” Cortana walks over to Chief, and Chief holds his AI chip out, which he was supposed to use to kill Cortana. Cortana voluntarily enters the chip, but Chief doesn’t kill her. Chief inserts the chip back into his helmet, and the game ends as the player returns to the standard in-helmet view. Cortana appears in the HUD, smiling warmly, and John says, “Welcome home, Cortana.” The Pelican lifts off, and the screen fades to black on a view of the Halo Rings, with the destroyed Guardians floating around them.

I can’t believe I just read all of that. I hope 343i reads this or atleast someone is willing to make a machinima of that.

I just really want Cortana to be redeemed, since she is my favorite character. We all know that Chief and Cortana love each other, and it would be the ultimate way to show that Chief is not a machine would be for him to show real love and empathy, and to not be able to kill Cortana because he loves her.

Thank you!

How I want it to end?

With a Warthog run!

you could add in some alternative methods of travel as an option.

I just think that seeing Chief reach a breaking point because he loves Cortana and cannot kill her would be the best way to show that Chief is a human underneath that armor.

P.S., is there any way to send this to 343 Industries so they could read it?

Not bad man. Personally, I don’t want to see Chief’s face or anything and as much as I like Cortana I have no issue with her “dying” I could even be ok with Chief dying depending on how they did it, but I doubt that will happen as they want to make more Halo games with the chief.

Be honest they probably will do something along the lines of what you said just because so many people weren’t happy that Cortana went “bad”

I’m trying to be optimistic about the story and Halo infinite but I kind of just have this feeling it’s going to be very average. I hope I’m wrong.

I really hope we won’t ever see Chief’s face.

Also, I don’t think this kind of ending would fit the “classic” tone we’re just about to get back…

I think if 343 ever decided to show Chief’s face, this would be the perfect time and way to do it. In H4/5 we already saw a more human side of Chief, so to have Cortana remove his helmet out of love, and for us to see Chief at his breaking point would be perfect

I actually think as a spiritual reboot of the franchise that it should end in a Warthog run, No pelican or Saber fighter or anything else but a Warthog and maybe an option for Ghosts. Also don’t want it to be like Halo 4’s action with Warthogs in the beginning few missions.

Dont redeem Cortana fully is all I ask

Gotta fit a Warthog run in there, somehow.

I don’t know how I would want it to end but I want the ending to feel like a proper ending like feeling chief completed his mission like halo 3 since Infinite is the 3rd part of the reclaimer saga. I don’t want another cliffhanger ending since we had 3 recently with halo 5 and wars 2.
