Well time for a short needless history lesson.
Halo2-No voting. What you got is what you got.
Halo3- You can now veto. Yet pretty random
Halo Reach-You get a good but small choice.
So here’s my idea for Voting in Reach
1-Ranks matter: Sorry to say it but higher ranks don’t deserve to be stronger but if they took the time to play the game [lets not count cheaters here] they DO deserve to have something. Why not make there vote count for more. For example a General who has been playing for awhile and is dedicated to the game should have an edge over a Private who barely plays.
2-More in Depth-Lets take Big Team Battle. My system would have 2 tiers
Tier 1-What Game Mode: Slayer, Objective. [perhaps others will be open later on]
Tier 2-Map and Game.
For Example if Slayer wins it will have Slayer games, Also will include Oddball, KOTH and those type of games. Objective is Flag, Bomb, Territories. And a mix of math. Slayer will mostly just be slayer. And the maps can be shared, no duh.
3-Fun Voting- Here’s an idea I had since Halo:CE [since I’m sure it’s the only Halo game that did this]. If a player pressed “Back” or B they made the counter go up, not down. Fun Voting will be open at special times [maybe holidays] which pits Team vs Team.
Each Team has to press “A” as fast as they can to vote on a map and gametype that will give them a slight edge. For example if Blue wins they may get an extra weapon, or vehicle.
>Note this is only for special times. Don’t expect this to be used a lot.
Thats my idea. For Voting in Halo 4.
What does everyone think?
That’s a bad idea. People could just get good on a single map, and always vote for that map. Then they wouldn’t lose and they’d rank up. THen they could just vote for that one map they’re good on even more often.
Also, we should go back to vetoing in ranked matches and the Reach voting in social IMO.
Here is my idea with voting for Halo 4
First pick a gametype for like a Team Mosh Pit game
You can have like
KotH
Oddball
CTF
Slayer
etc
Then you pick what map you want to play and it would be five maps and out of the two/three with the highest votes are put into another vote and people vote from those maps that were chosen.
Then Game Starts.
Now yeah it could be a long process but at least it would be fair.
I liked Halo 3’s the best. It gave you a choice, but didn’t over-do it like in Reach.
I just think it should be Reach’s, but with a tie breaker vote (Countdown and Zealot both get 3 votes, Sword Base gets none. Restart the voting with Sword Base removed), and without giving the higher up options higher priority.
Maybe set it up so in “Ranked” or “Hyper-competitive” playlists, it only gives 2 options, making it similar to Halo 3 but with a preview of what the alternative is.
coming from a “high rank” that is a horrible idea,
giving higher ranked players a bais means they will ALWAYS vote for maps they can spawn kill on (BTB “slayer / objective” on hemmorage or objective sword base) trust me, knowing me and my pals, we would never play anything but hemmorage, sword base, and countdown. Allowing variation is what makes halo, “halo”. I think reach’s voting system is otomized because it gives you 6 options to chose from to weed out bad forge variants and bad game types.
No - voting is a democratic process and it should stay that way.
“One man one vote” NOT well some get 2 votes, except in Chicago ;-p
You have the Other backwards as well.
Vote for the MAP then the game type.
The same voting would likely be used for the campaign and firefight. How many times have you done multiple cycles trying to get the firefight map you needed?
Halo 3 Veto System should be in Halo 4. It works best.
Reach’s system is dumb and results in you playing a map 10 times in a row. Halo 3’s was the best by far.

BULL$%!#
H3’s voting SUCKed, when are you dipsticks going to get over H3 and move on.
You ended up playing the same 3 maps over and over in H3

Halo 3 will always be better than Reach.
> Halo 3 will always be better than Reach.
Moron!
That’s why everybody is playing H3 and not Reach, eh.
and the music of the 90’s (or substitute your fav decade) is better than today.
Grow up you useless twit.
BTW DumAs, this thread is about H4 not reach.
I liked Halo 3’s system the best. We still get to vote but we still get an amazing amount of map variety which I LOVE and in my opinion is needed. It’s terrible playing the same map over and over like in Reach.

Oh, the irony…you tell us to grow up while stamping your feet and screaming immature insults because you don’t want what we do. H3 system was better, go back to that.

Funny. In Reach every time I play BTB every other match is on hemorrhage. I’d rather you actually have a choice between two so people don’t pick the stupid stuff every time. With Reach’s there were so many voting options the choices often end up with votes spread out across all rather than allowing for a majority consensus on what sucks and what is fun.

I agree with this wholeheartedly
