I think machines (basically the sentinals and guilty sparks) are going to help the Chief through out Halo 4 against a bunch of aliens. Then the flood are gonna return at the end of H4, and be your main enemy in H5. During H5 you’ll realize the monitors want to use whatever planet you’re on to completely eradicate the entire galaxy of the flood, which will in turn destroy all of existence. So you team up with the aliens because they have been trying to stop the sentinals the whole time. So during H6 you’re in an all out war between all these different races, and the last half of H6 game is on Earth that ends with a big -Yoink- battle. That’s my opinion, what about yours?
Well, Sentinels and Monitors don’t necessarily care about the Flood. They just care about their directive to fire their designated Halo ring should Flood come back.

Your theory sounds alot like ce 2 and 3 all over again. I personally think that we will be encountering the forerunners themselves.Whether they be friend or foes I dont have enough information. As for the return of the flood I think that while they where quite an entertaining enemy I think that 3 games of them are quite enough and that we need new threats to the galaxy. Don’t forget that the covenant are more or less disbanded or at least not religiously bent on the extermination of the human race and seeings as the prophets were the glue that held them together we might be seeing strange alliance and or enemy factions to come as the different species of the covenant didn’t really get along on the best of days. Of course this is all speculation and there may not even be an appearance of the covenant in 4 they may be replaced all together by one or more new races. Needless to say I cant wait and I’m sure 343 wont disappoint even though they have big shoes to fill.
