So we know that the current REQ system is pretty unliked by most people. It isn’t Pay2Win like people think but it’s still pretty bad. Here’s how I think it should have been, in my opinion:
My Proposal:
The REQ system is a lootbox system that stems from a player’s commendations. At the start of all players’ profiles, the game only lets them unlock the base variants of a weapon. Completing the weapon commendation for the weapon will give them access to a variant of that weapon. After unlocking the variant of weapon, the player will be required to complete a higher level commendation to unlock another variant of the weapon they complete the commendation for. Completing a commendation set will let the player access a unique emblem and armour set specific to that commendation.
Why this works:
This system makes the P2W argument pretty invalid. The system is able to use a player’s commendations to stop players from gaining access to higher level REQs without the others being completed. By implementing a function into the matching system, the skill level and commendation level of a player can be taken into account so people firstly match players at their skill level and then the commendations they have completed.
The P2W argument isn’t completely invalid as you do still have to use REQ Points to use a pack or gain one from a promotion. If it were to have a component that requires payment then the argument would only be valid once someone has unlocked a weapon that could be considered overpowered. How can this be fixed? Pay out REQ Points at a higher rate. Then players won’t feel like they need to spend any money on REQ Packs unless they want to.
END
These are just ideas from an amateur that has no care for finances in a business as they do not particularly concern me in any way right now. I’d like your opinions and ideas if you have any.
I just want Arena packs to be separate from Warzone Packs so that I can grind my cosmetics. Then again that wouldn’t bring in the mad cash now would it? :^)

It wouldn’t. This idea had some economics behind it but not little enough to have that idea. Some of the money does go towards the major and minor tournaments so can’t pull too much away from it
I personally don’t care for tournaments and personally the idea of me funding these pro league players rubs me the wrong way. Got these sponsors to give the cash. But I won’t delve too far into my thoughts on this since it will derail the convo.
I just hope with Infinite they go back to the Reach format at the very least for us to grind our level/credits for what we want. Especially with how taboo loot boxes have become.

I hear you. Every time these big-name devs and publishers announce that a portion of sales go towards esports, I get extremely pissed off. I’m buying and playing the game for my personal enjoyment, not to fund some tournament that means nothing to me. It gets certain players excited and that gives publishers more of a reason to keep pushing lootboxes which ruin the experience for a majority of players. Terrible system that doesn’t belong in any AAA game.
And then they’ll introduce paid dlc, to compensate for the lack of post game spending. I would rather the current system and have the player base stick together
