I would love to see a game where instead of having something that just adds to your character, it should have trade offs. Therefore, I think that maybe perks should have a downfall along with an uplift if that makes any sense. Basically, pros and cons.
Lets take Mobility for example. In the game currently, it makes you have unlimited Sprint. What if they took it and added a side effect. Unlimited sprint but at the cost of sprinting 25% slower?
Or Ammo package, for now it makes it where all ammo in your weapon starts with more as well as ordinance drops ammo. What if they made it where you start with extra ammo, but Slightly slower reload times. That would make an excellent pairing with Dexterity, which might make it where faster reloading, but slower weapon switch times.
I think that if they incorporated that into the game, it would be so much more tactical on which one you actually choose and make the mix and matching of packages that much more important to eliminate the cons.
I think it would make the game have a lot more variety than the 90% of people who only use Dexterity and Fire power.
I am not saying “title update this shiiiiiz”, I am just saying that I think it would be very interesting if they did incorporate that. For those who might not want any cons, there could always be a “none” option or something for the bare bones feel.

Meh, whatever you wanna call them I guess. Only place I have seen that term is Fallout NV and I wasn’t sure if that was the only game that had that term, so I decided not to confuse people who had not played and stick with a word people know of.

I know, I know. Just being a smart -Yoink-. But as Dexterity and Firepower, I have a feeling you are going to be right about the over use of them.

Almost every gameplay I see, that is the majority of the packages. Firepower with BR and DMR (and almost exclusively use the DMR) and Dexterity. I, on the other hand, and probably not going to use Dexterity to that certain extent. I think its mostly because most people are used to Slight of Hand (for those who play CoD). I have always found Halo reload times fast so I see no need for it. Im just gonna Hipster it!
> Um… No. That would detract from the gameplay. Besides, I’m awful at making decisions as it is, let alone with a trade-off to those decisions.

> Its a bit late now anyway, buddy.
If you would have read the entire post, I said I wasn’t asking to incorporate it, I just wanted to see others opinions on the matter. I don’t like the idea at all of having Packages in halo, but I think having cons would make the gameplay much more interesting.

Woah someone who agrees with me! I don’t hate the idea, but it sure does change Halo in a way that is (in my opinion) not Halo.

You’re definitely not alone. The entire premise of being better than someone off spawn is insulting to the Halo franchise.
Halo is an Arena shooter. COD is a class-based shooter. COD has classes. Halo has set starting weapons across the board.
> the trade off is you aren’t using the other mods/package in that category.
Thats not a trade off, that is picking and choosing which works for a situation. None actually take many tactical decisions though as you can clearly see that 80% (number out my -Yoink-) of gameplays are Dexterity and Firepower with BR and DMR. No variety. With cons, it might make people rethink their playstyle for a class.

EXACTLY! That is what I said Months ago! Hell thats what I said when Reach came out. People constantly screamed “Adapt” but adapting does not change the game back to its original, intended play style and it certainly does not remove the BS. If anything, at least we have Slayer Pro, but I did not buy a game for one playlist.

Dude, we all said that when Reach came out.
The franchise is going to crap. Nothing’s being done to preserve the classic Halo experience, the one that made it the best selling game.
Disagree. A majority of the “perks” in halo 4 effect gameplay so little that there is no need to add down sides. They are very situational. If they actually impacted the game a lot more then i would agree. And only on terms of balance.
> Halo 4 has shipped and the Day 1 title update has already been planned out. This is a pointless thread.
You know those threads that aren’t complaining about the way the game is, the ones who aren’t trying to change the game and throwing ideas out there just for the fun of a discussion, this would be one of those threads.
Not to be rude, but if you have nothing to contribute to the conversation, then don’t even comment. You say my thread is pointless, but keep in mind your post was pointless.

Starting with 2 primary weapons is little? Almost eliminating reload times is little? I think you and I have completely different views on what “little” means to the gameplay.

Re read. and then think about what you said. I said a majority. That implies most. Not all. And i never said there arn’t any perks that effect it majorly. My post didn’t even imply that. If your going to quote me and expect an actual argument you should probably read a lot more and think before you post.

I could continue down the list if you would like, those were just the first two that came to mind. I don’t want to start any arguments, I was just stating my opinions. You are free to have yours, I am free to have mine. If you ask me, Packages don’t even belong in Halo in the first place, but as every person under the sun has already stated, “adapt”.
