How I imagine the Custom Game Browser

I put together an image in Photoshop to show you guys what I think the Custom Game Browser would look like were it in the game. Featured in my image, you have a browser that displays each open custom game lobby along with details. You have the Lobby Name (which the lobby creator will choose), The Host (which tells you who made the lobby), the Map and Gametype, when the lobby was created, and how filled the lobby is.

You can select each of these details and click “A” to sort it by that detail, or click “Y” to enter a specific term (such as “snipers” in Lobby Name or for a specific gamertag).

Here is the image I’ve put together for you guys. What do you think?

I imagine it would be close to Halo PC’s online. You hit it almost on the head, just need a “Refresh” button.

Ah, yes. I forgot about that. Just imagine there’s a button key in the bottom left like Reach and “X” is one to refresh. (;

Although in not a huge fan of this idea I must say it looks really nice and I wouldn’t mind in being in Halo 4 .

Good Job

I would prefer everyone just play MP but thats a dream lolzz

such a feature would make MP funner, not everyone likes using Match Making.
Plus, MP isn’t every thing, Halo wouldn’t be Halo with out it’s campaign.

Very well done. A few other details that should be included are map and gametype, if the game is in progress or in lobby, and how strong the connection is. You should also try making a second picture of a screen where you select a gametype on the list and view more of it’s details like all the settings for the game and a description of the game.

I don’t know how they could make this work, but if they could there should also be a system to rate the person hosting the lobby on how good their games are. But I imagine that would take a lot of thought on how to make it work without players manipulating their review with friends and alts.

Also, here’s what I typed up in another thread on how I imagined the custom games browser. Very similar:

Cat n Mouse_____|RELYTNING_____|in_progress_|11/12_players|***

That would be so amazing! Nice image!

Looks great!! Great photo shopping!

I really like this! Also you did a good job putting it together!

Well done, OP!
It would be nice to have a Customs Lobby, then we can find Customs much easier than throwing a post on the forums or pestering recent players.

I wonder how something like this would work… like would one person be host? I feel like finding a good host would be difficult.

Anyone who hosts a custom game lobby that’s open to any players would show up in the list. Either searching by tags or using a filter to narrow the game down to the gametype/map/party size/connection/settings etc. so you find games you’re looking for, ideally you could find a decent game you want.

For example, I open the custom games browser: Say I’m looking for a game of Hide n Seek. I’d use the tags hide n seek, set the filters to the infection gametype, check all the maps I’m ok with playing on, choose the minimum and maximum players in the lobby, pick the allowed ping, etc. etc. narrowing down my search. Then I browse through the games still in the browser and view their settings and descriptions of the game to see if it looks like what I’m looking for. If not enough games show up or I don’t find what I like, I broaden my filter to allow more.

And from the looks Halo 4s Campaign looks great but I can only play so much of that befor I get board. MP with friends never gets boring…

Its so obvious that there are so many kids who are too young to remember anything other than matchmaking. It makes me laugh.

Back in my day, it wasnt called “custom game browser”. It was just called playing online. We had to go out and find our own damn host and then hope it connects, and we were glad of it.

They will never do this btw, it would gut matchmaking.

Looks good!

Thanks man! The status and connection details are actually pretty important, so those should be available too!

Man it took a bit to find this thread. I knew it was gonna get buried with all the new details from RTX. Anyways, I already didn’t expect a custom games browser to be in halo 4, but I think I saw that someone asked if it was going to be in at RTX and was answered ‘no’. Bummer. Hopefully in halo 5 I suppose.
