So in Halo 5, we see the return of the Domain since Cortana managed to access it after landing on Genesis with parts of the Mantle’s Approach. Although, in the Forerunner Trilogy, it says the Domain was destoryed with the firing of the Halo rings. Could it have been a misunderstanding that the Domain was destroyed, did it repair itself or did it close itself off to the Forerunners because of the war they were in with the Flood?
The Assembly.

Care to elaborate?
I haven’t found a super satisfactory answer for this yet either (since it seems like the game uses it more as a convenient plot point), but I think it’s possible it repaired itself. The Precursors had tech and planets outside the Milky Way (specifically in the Large Magellanic Cloud, if I’m remembering correctly, but possibly elsewhere too) so it’s likely that even if the part of the Domain in the Milky Way was destroyed when the array fired that the rest of it could have still been intact.
Maybe since the Forerunners had already been “tested” by the Flood/Precursors, the Domain restructured to reject Forerunner connections and was setting up to be able to test the humans next?

i have a better theory on this.
The domain was infected by the flood during the Forerunner/flood war and was corrupted with they Logic Plague. Only a sliver of Cortana got in since she was partially corrupt by the Gravemind. The Warden is Forerunner construct/AI who was also turned by the Logic Plague and now they have the grand idea to further the Floods ends as their own but the seeds where sown 100,000 years ago. So this is all the mechinations of the Flood and will eventually herald their return with the AI’s as the Shocktroopers to pacify the known galaxy for them.

In one of the Intelligence pieces in the last level, the Builder states that the Domain had been repairing or healing itself somehow. That and he keeps referencing something called “Bastion” over and over again. Sounds like that may be some other installation that we have yet to discover.
I thought that the domain was the organon, and that the firing of the halo array’s radiation supernovas destroyed the precursor installations that kept it running. A billions years of knowledge, lost…
So this raises the question. How is the domain back in order again? The original organon array was built with neural physics and destroyed like all other biological life… Perhaps the forerunners created their own flawed version of the organon? One based on digital data, rather than biological thoughts? It would explain how cortana could thrive in it.

Well, it IS believed that Domain is the Organon.
Well, it is what Gravemind said… he also said it would be lost upon Halo Array firing, BUT we don’t know if it was 100% true or he wanted to manipulate to stop firing.

It got me really intrigued too.
Alive Builder, hunted by Cortana who’s calling Bastion… damn. We need more knowledge about this. ;_;
Maybe parts of the Domain was in Slipspace and because if that survived the Firing of the Rings. After that it slowly regenerated.

To be honest, it is partially what I was thinking, that Flood was manipulating.
They gotten into the Domain during the war - and we know, whatever Flood touches it corrupts. So yeah, I kinda agree, that’s what I was thinking as well.
The Warden may or may not know about it. But yeah, we don’t know much about the Warden Eternal, when he was created how much he knows… but to me he kinda serves the Mastermind who’s lurking in the shadows.
I just don’t really think about Cortana’s corruption. Also, on Genesis, where the Domain is, there was the Exuberant Witness, she didn’t seem to have any knowledge of that.
