How has Halo fallen to Serial Narrative?

I saw the recent rumors based on some 343 hiring that they are intending to generate “serial narrative” for the multiplayer seasons.

Am I the only one that thinks this kind of content really won’t do Halo justice?

Will it be like Spartan Ops? With each multiplayer season bringing some kind of PVE content? I can’t imagine that they will be able to put together a full campaign extension for each season, and anything shorter than that (something like Spartan Ops,) could be pretty lame.

Even worse, could it be like COD Warzone? Remember when after a main character died in the campaign, they brought him back in like a 7 second seasonal cutscene so they could sell him as a cosmetic?

With the multiplayer being rooted entirely in “training” how could seasonal multiplayer content move the plot forwards? I mean, with a serial narrative, will anything move it forwards?

I’m very concerned about the future of the narrative if this is the kind of thing they are working on. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Telling the story through various brief, barely connected cutscenes really annoyed me in MW2019, especially since I’d rather have experienced those bits in a campaign extension or MW2.

I really hope something similar doesn’t happen in Halo: Infinite. I want to experience and participate in the story, not just have some character skin paraded in a cutscene for 30 seconds before going back to same-old same-old multiplayer.

I have a hard time imagining that they’re going in a different direction. Maybe a more canon-focused PVE mode being introduced, but that would probably come with similarly generic/uninteresting cutscenes.

I’m also having a hard time imagining that they’ll be dropping genuine additions to the campaign, or making the campaign a true live service like Destiny. I would take either of those over the MW2019 thing.

Here’s the thing: Spartan Ops really didn’t do the player justice. It was really just a massive self stroking fest for Sarah Palmer and that other loser Spartan team and they banter back and forth with useless chatter while you as Crimson play a really unfun Firefight.

There’s a major difference immediately when Agryna greets us. We awoke from our quick nap on the Pelican and Agryna greets us immediately and eases us in, then watches our tutorial progress and takes part in the simulation match at the end. That’s immediately more attentive to the player character than Spartan Ops ever was.

I would definitely be down for our MP Spartans having some “story role” in Campaign downseasons as the narrative for Firefights and such, without our MP Spartans directly interacting with Campaign important characters of course.

As I’ve said many times, Chief in the campaign claimed all these territory back for us, beat all these enemies black and blue and established FOBs for us… but someone has to hold the fort right? So that’s narrative reason for us to drop in as MP Spartans for Firefight survival game modes etc. Coupled with the fact that Agryna left immediately after our Tutorial to someplace could mean she is highly likely gonna be on the field on Zeta at some point if our MP Spartans are deployed there.

Again I have to be clear that I want our MP Spartans to take part in some narrative, just not interact with Chief, Pilot or any plot important character directly.
