I have not been on this forum for a very long time. I have ran out of xbox live and have gotten caught up in school work, meeting deadlines, transitioning to a new college lifestyle, and have lost touch with the halo world as a whole.
I posted on this forum eight months ago featuring a topic emphasizing what would have been wrong with a halo that mirrored halo 3, except with minor improvements. and after that thread was locked, i left the forum out of disappointment and resentment for how terrible people reacted and argued off topic, eventually locking my thread, which i still do not agree with.
but that is besides the point. here is what i am trying to get at.
how has halo changed since launch? there used to be so many negative posts and degrading arguments that went against halo 4’s reputation and outcome. what has changed? where have all these people gone? has anything positive been added? negative? better? worse?
what makes this game so much better, if it is better, than when it was released over a year ago?
It has changed A LOT. I’m a bigger fan now than I was this time last year. The weapons tuning update helped out significantly.
They’ve released a lot of great DLC, although it is hard to find matches for those maps, however I believe they have a schedule up where they’re throwing the DLC playlists in the mix.
They’ve fixed loudout and rank resets and most of the major bugs. I found it to to be quite flimsy for a while, but it’s solid now.
I enjoy it a lot; I’m sure you’re about to get all kinds of crap-talk about it … and those opinions are also–for the most part–valid, but from a huge fan, I say hop on and join in.
Most of the negativity comes from the changes 343 made with Halo, not that the current MM system is broken … it works well IMO, it’s just different, and some don’t like it.
The Infinity crap is still there, however there are alternatives. The gameplay is much more balanced and fast paced. There is a new playlist inspired by American Football which is great fun and a free forge island DLC which I would reccomend downloading. We also have a new CSR 1-50 system similar to that of Halo 2 and 3, however it isn’t in game.
Overall, if you didn’t like Halo 4 at launch, give it a good go because what 343 have done for this game over the last 6 months is pretty incredible. I didn’t enjoy Halo 4 much at launch but it’s by far my favorite matchmaking yet.
Enough to keep me playing daily
Its improved a lot since launch 343 has gone a long ways and i will be playin h4 til h5 releases in a year from now

I second ya bro. It’s not as balanced as 3 and is far more chaotic and random, but I will carry on until 5.
Halo 4 is different but sometimes change is a good thing. Halo 4 has sprint by default which a lot of people don’t like but I have faith in 343 that they will do their best to make Halo more competitive. Armor abilities are awesome in a casual playlist but competitive wise it could be better or used better.

With the perks like Mobility, decterity, etc gone, it will brighten up the MM.
Halo 4 has been improved so much!
We got a big weapon tuning making the BR 4 shot kill and 2 shot beatdown! Also other weapons have been buffed or nerfed and there is now more variety in loadouts and the DMR is no longer the best weapons. Vehicles became better and we got new free perks.
We also got Static Weapon Spawns on a lot of maps with this update and the movement speed has been increased by 10% which makes the game much better and fast paced.
We got a CSR Ranking System but not the way we want it, it’s on waypoint.
We got the Red X back
We got extra DLC with new weapon skins and armor like ODST and Mark V. We also got a The Pit remake called Pitfall and another new map called Vertigo.
There is a rotational playlist which also features DLC in the Future.
The multiplayer itself has been improved and playlists changed. There are now Legendary variants of gamemodes like Team Slayer which is basicaly classic only with sprint and flinch.
I think Halo 4 has been improved a lot and 343 is still active on Halo 4 with updates etc.
All these changes plus many more changes and updates gave me more hope for Halo XB1.

Indeed
I’ve been noticing a SMALL increase in population the past week.
Quite a lot.
We had a weapon update that buffed up all of the loadout weapons in damage(except the DMR and LR), and nerfed the DMR’s Red Reticle Range a bit. The LR also had its Red Reticle Range increased to match the new DMR’s RRR. This allows for more weapons to be useful, while giving players some breathing room. To play in the new settings in custom games, you will have to play in MM, and save the gametype.
Random Spawning Power Weapons have left the game, and have been replaced with the traditional static spawning system found in previous Halo games.
A ranking system is in place, but the game doesn’t show it. You can only find it in your Halo 4 career profile here on Halo Waypoint.
4 map packs have been released, with the recent map pack being included in a bundle that would give you the maps, as well as new Armor, Armor Skins for older armor, new Weapon Skins and new stances for your player card.
Forge Island has been released for free on Xbox Live. You will get a really large map that includes 3 islands meant for Forging and includes pieces that are not in other Forge maps, which includes freaking large rocks and trees!
That’s just about it. Halo 4 has improved over the past few months. It’s almost a night and day difference when it comes to the issues 343 went out to address. It still got its problems, like the lack of a healthy population that can make getting good matchmade games a problem to get, and that vehicle combat is still pretty bad. However, I say they did a good job redoing Halo 4 without actually going out to re-release Halo 4.

I think this is one of the real pluses about H4 as opposed to Reach.
Now I love Reach but this casually strolling across a map when the rounds are flying just aint fun, and a short blast of sprint while panting like a geriatric pinto does no good at all on a map like Hemmorage.
Players don’t like Sprint because you actually have to ‘lead’ your opponent to a degree - especially at long range with a long gun - but, hey, if it was easy anyone could do it.
