I’ll preface this by saying that I know nothing at all about programming, but I was wondering how difficult it would be to iron out the bugs in Halo 2’s emulation profile.
I was playing a bit of the campaign yesterday and had to save/resume multiple times because of the ghosting issue.
I would imagine that this issue is the only thing preventing MS from releasing this as a downloadable game.
I’m not sure what it would cost to fix, but I would imagine a lot of people would be more than happy to pay $15-$20 to have a digital copy of this classic presented in it’s original form ( i.e. not a hi- res remake, etc.).
Anyone in the community feel they have any insight into why this hasn’t happened yet?
Thanks in advance.
Probably the simple fact that nobody wants to do it. 343 is busy pretending to do stuff, while all they’re really worried about is cutscenes and audio. It wouldn’t be too hard to port and fix glitches with a full team.
Same story with Halo Wars. The Halo Wars community to this day has dedicated fans and you can still find games. They just don’t have a team to continue along, and frankly, Microsoft doesn’t want to take the risk on something that’s not a full on brand new AAA title.
