How hard is it to give a ‘New’ – ‘Worn / Dirty’ choice in the armor coating customization menu?

Of all things related to customization, this one bothers me the most: Exclusive coatings like Deathly Poison and Red Shift that cost between 70 and 120 dollars/euros are 100% new. Meanwhile ALL other armor coatings in game are worn and/or dirty.

I was looking forward to unlocking the Scorpion Punch armor coating, mainly because it was presented in promotional material as an almost new looking armor coating. Not quite as new as Deathly Poison or Red Shift, but still pretty close.

But checking Scorpion Punch in the Event Battle Pass, it turns out the armor was made to look completely worn out & dirty. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

So really, how hard is it to give us a choice between ‘New’ and ‘Worn / Dirty’ in the customization menu? Or more ideally a SLIDER. DOOM could manage it in 2016, so why can’t Halo Infinite make it work in 2022? We already know the sliders is there in game, just make it available to the players.

And for people claiming that worn/dirty armor is more realistic: Fine! But why are all exclusive armor coatings 100% new? Why are all weapons 100% new? Then make EVERYTHING worn & dirty.

Just give us a CHOICE 343!

I think the shiny ones are new, matte ones are old. And, does it really matter? You are a soldier actively being shot at, you will get dirty

No, you have shiny and matte new ones. Just check the HCS store: EVERYTHING is new. Problem is, they’re all kits. Everything else, besides the exclusives are all worn & dirty.

Copy/paste:

Choice? choice is not allowed in this game.

really making me miss Halo 5 rn, even though armour choices were restrictive as hell I could at least choose my colours.

It matters because Infinite unlike other Halo’s puts a major emphasis on the presentation of your spartan.

Oh no! Somebody wants more customization freedom since what we have now is extremely limited for no reason, heavens!

Do any of the skins really matter? It’s a first person game that discourages interaction between players, so who are you paying real life money to look good for?
Strangers? People you’ll never see again unless you add them after one match?
I absolutely despise the way they’ve handled customization and the in game store. Get rid of the store, period.

yourself, you’re looking good for yourself, which plays into why the game takes every opportunity possible to show you off in the intros and end of the match.

Yep, it’s nice the first few matches til you realize the games a bit of a dumpster fire (has been since launch) and then you feel stupid for having paid for skins because you gave this company money, and equipping those skins just lets everyone know you did.

good thing I only use the BP and Campaign coatings

jokes aside I agree, its just purely frustrating and aggravating due to its excessive restrictions. for well known/suspected reasons at this rate.

Shoot, the campaign coatings are the most expensive in the game (outside of some brand deals I do believe) (wait, can you get the campaign coatings for MP thru the gamepass?)

given that they come with the campaign…yehp.

How much stuff do you get out of the campaign?

Probably like 1-10 armor coatings of varying… uh. Quality. And then some really uninspired banished weapon coatings. That’s about it I think. Emblems but I mean who cares. Some key chains and uhh… A stance I think.

Overall coatings? or just Armour?

Personally, I’d like them to show more damage to the armour during matches.

Should see pieces of your (or opponent’s) armour fly off as they take hits. Then you should see it regenerate (like nanotech something).

Everything you unlock. Everything

Well, the campaign is probably worth $30 at most since it is just a campaign, the other $30 is for the cosmetics, lol

Shoot, if we went by that pricing logic the armor coatings really would be 2-3$! Definitely irks me just seeing my money disappear down the drain because of blind trust and hype in 343----

Ok

Roughly 9 Armour Coatings (For Mark VII only, no other core gets a campaign coating)

8 Weapon Coatings (All available weapons for customisation)

7 Vehicle Coatings (All available vehicles for customisation)

some emblems, actually 3 emblems, just checked. might be incorrect as im basing this off of memory and checking the Customisation menu to ensure im getting this right.

double checked, its 4 emblems I think
