I stayed up all night making this, so I hope that you all enjoy it! If you are a member of the community, please voice your opinion below. If you are a member of 343, PLEASE consider the following.
Terrible features that need to go:
-spartan abilities (sprint, spartan charge, ground pound, thrusters, and slide) Why have vehicles when you have these? Not to mention that the maps had to be drastically enlarged, which means that spartan abilities actually slow down gameplay. Oh also did I mention killtimers? When the first form of spartan abilities were added in Reach, they had to add kill timers to keep players from breaking the map with the abilities.
-the Prometheans. Prometheans should have never been added in the first place… once upon a time there were such things called sentinels. They were machines that looked NOTHING like prometheans and floated in the air. They were fun to fight. You used plasma weapons against them. But in Halo 4, -Yoinking!- 343 said “You know what? -Yoink- the sentinels, we are going to create brand new weird-looking enemies with generic weapons and try to somehow fit them into the story. Screw everything that was in the past 5 games.”
-Fireteam Osiris
-terrible -Yoink- weapons that should have never been added such as the suppressor, lightrifle, scattershot, boltshot, binary rifle, butt–Yoinking!- useless storm rifle, hydra, way too OP saw, and Halo 5 rocket launcher
–Yoinking!- microtransactions
-the REQ system, a completely random system that has -Yoinking!- microtransactions and uses the same system as casino machines
-any type of loadout whatsoever… we ARE NOT Call of Duty
–Yoinking!- killtimers
Fan favorites that need to make a comeback:
-Split-screen. Halo used to be a game where you would go to your friend’s house and play custom games. You could enjoy it face-to-face. You can’t do that with Halo 5. Also, not to mention, I used to play Halo with my family on the couch. Do you think that parents are going to buy another -Yoinking!- Xbox and monitor just so family members can play with eachother? Think again, 343.
-awesome weapons such as the spiker, mauler, brute shot, Reach grenade launcher (currently exists in Warzone), and plasma rifle
-Equipment. praise Jesus I loved it so much, and to this day I still wonder why the hell Reach removed it.
-dual-wielding, which was about the coolest feature ever… until it was removed in ODST… it was one of my favorite features.
-playable elites
-Reach-style customization. Reach nailed customization and then Halo 4 removed all that Reach accomplished and sent customization back to the stone age
-The Flood. I actually miss the -Yoinks!-… not all people will agree with me about that, but they will agree with me about this: they were way better than the -Yoinking!- Prometheans.
-fan favorite enemies that were removed for some weird reason such as the brutes, drones, skirmishers, and engineers
-Sentinels. Now here is what I completely DON’T get. Why the hell did Halo add the Prometheans? There were already lots of Forerunner AIs such as monitors, sentinels, aggressor sentinels, constructors, and enforcers, and they could have expanded on them and added more types of sentinels instead of the Prometheans but NO. They had to completely change the story and artstyle of the WHOLE SERIES.
-large, open areas like Halo CE and Halo 3’s instead of the cramped, linear ones of Halo 4-5. It would give us a point to have vehicles.
-cool vehicles such as the Hornet/Falcon (either of which is fine, just please DO NOT KEEP the -Yoinking!- wasp, it’s the most useless vehicle ever) Chopper, Prowler, troop hog
-A satisfactory ending. Seriously, I know that Halo 5 was trying to be like Halo 2 but it did NOT deserve its terrible cliffhanger.
-a focus on master chief
-classic artstyle
New features that need to be added:
-Along with the fact that the sentinels need to make a comeback, we should just replace the Prometheans with new types of sentinels. We had an awesome-looking Forerunner AI since Combat Evolved, and 343 just threw it away.
-With the sentinels, we need new forerunner weapons. Take inspiration from the sentinel beam. It was such a unique and fun-to-use weapon. Make more weapons like this for the Forerunners. Weapons that are so unique that humans nor Covenant would EVER want to make them. The suppressor, it’s just a cheap copy of the SMG. The boltshot is basically just a useless version of the magnum. The incinerator cannon is just a rocket launcher. The lightrifle is a blatant copy of the DMR. The scattershot is a literal copy of the shotgun. The binary rifle is a really TERRIBLE version of the sniper rifle (possibly the worst weapon in Halo history, even more utterly useless than the storm rifle). It always completely baffled me that the Forerunners were such a high-tech, advanced race, but they used pretty much the EXACT same weapons as the humans. Not to mention all of these Forerunner weapons SUCK compared to human ones… how the hell did the Forerunners beat the humans again? Anyway, we need useful, unique weapons for the Forerunners.
-A shoulder to cry on. Hold on, I will explain what this means. Remember Johnson? He was our comic relief. He was a fun, rugged–Yoink- dude. He nailed one-liners and was just such an awesome character. We have NOBODY like that in Halo 4-5. This is one reason why Halo 5 had a worthless piece-of–Yoink- story, clumsily thrown together. Some possible people that I could see having this role are Buck, Lasky, or even that one marine from the Halo Infinite E3 2019 trailer.
-Add some soul to the game. One reason I hated Halo 5 is because the story is soulless. Honestly, I didn’t give a -Yoink- about any of the characters except for a few. I hated the soulless piece of -Yoink- called Locke and the -Yoink- named Palmer. All the spartans from the Fireteams were meaningless to me, I didn’t even care about them. I remember back in the Bungie days of Halo. Literally every marine had character. Marines had special dialogue that… I don’t know how to describe it… it just gave them a soul. It gave them character. This was implanted into every single marine. I would actually be sad when just a little marine died. And when Miranda and Johnson died, man. That was so sad. I’m not going to lie, I almost cried. But now, if some of the Halo 5 characters died, I wouldn’t give a -Yoink-. I don’t care about Locke. I don’t care about Osiris. I don’t care about Palmer. I don’t care about Halsey. The list goes on and on. The marines have completely lost their charm. Pretty much everyone in Halo 5 are just soulless machines. They all lack that one special thing that I can’t describe.
-A system for EARNING armor. To go with my “Reach customization” point earlier in this rant, we should also have to earn our armor. Currently, you get armor from random lootboxes (which by the way is, I believe, a very cheap system because it is the same system used by -Yoinking!- casino machines) You should be forced to complete certain achievements to earn armor parts. For example: kill 20 elites to earn the ODST helmet. Boom. Its as simple as that. 343 could add different armor parts, bring back old ones and make you complete special achievements to earn them. I would totally grind for the Recon helmet. If Halo Infinite adds this, it would be awesome.
Anyway, to rap it up, Halo 4-5 was a mess. However, if 343 listens to these suggestions, I can guarantee you that Halo Infinite will be an awesome game. With the balanced amount of nostalgia and new features, you will succeed.
