How Halo Infinite can be fun and enjoyable

Hope you are doing well :slight_smile:

I’d like to begin my post by saying that i am a long term Halo fan.
I discovered Halo CE at 8 yo with my Dad and i have never stopped playing ever since. Halo 3 was my first online multiplayer experience and this was by far one of the best souvenir i have playing with my brother in splitscreen or in campaign co-op.

For me Halo was always a fun and social game with limitless possibilities thanks to forge. I remember building maps on Halo Reach and inviting random players to play on my maps.

But now i think Halo has lost some of its Core and here 4 things i wish to return to make me enjoy playing again:

  1. Tone down SBMM

As i told you Halo is my part of my childhood and i’m always trying to bring new people to like the game as i do. I wanted to play with my girlfriend but as an Onyx Player, we can’t play together… The matchmaking is way too long and when we get to find a match she just gets destroyed. Same for all of my friend. So now i only have to play solo and the social part that we lost really makes me sad.

This is actually my Number one request. I used to play Halo with a lot of friends and now noone wants to play because its just not fun for them.

2. Actual career rank and progression

The second request is to make the game rewarding and enjoyable to grind. Today i’m just logging in to do the weekly challenges as i finished the battle pass. I have no incentive whatsoever to play because i can’t grind something or play with friends. i need to play and get rewarded for being good which is not the case now (except the fact that i can finish all my challenges in a day).

3. Cross-customisation and color customisation

I think everyone agrees that now you don’t feel unique when playing as the customisation is very limited. Everyone looks the same and you don’t event have a pre or post game lobby to show off. We need to have a customisation that allows you to say “yeah thats me on the field” and show it off to people. Make some really hard challenges that makes you unlock certain armor or unique color to make us feel good when playing.

4. Forge and custom game browser

This can save the game for me but they have to launch at the same time (which does not seem to be the case). I think everything we want, the social part, the lobbies, the rivalry or friendship will return as players will be free to do whatever they want. But i’m scared that when the custom browser launches, there will not be enough people to reinstall the game and play again.

I am a real dedicated fan and i think 343 really did a lot of good things in Infinite but a game which were to be a social game at its core is no more and it needs to change to create a community again.

All spot on. Infinite is a great base game that is just severely lacking key features that make it fun and enjoyable. One big thing I would add to this list would be fixing the performance/network problems. The game should not be constantly lagging and jumping up to 1000 ping every game. And the desync is currently ruining the great gameplay this game is supposed to have.

I’d prefer social still made it that people of similar skill levels were paired up. I don’t want to destroy new players ( which could drive them off, effectively keeping new blood out of the game ) nor do I want to play people who will simply dominate me the entire match. These situations are simply put, not fun for anyone, and effectively damaging to the game itself.
