Now some of you might disagree with what I have to say in these next few paragraphs but it is my personal opinion, and I am saying right now that it is biased.
I don’t think I’m speaking for everyone here but I am speaking for myself.
The first thing that needs to be brought back is the 1-50 ranking system. Some of you hate it and some of you love it. The reason I like it so much is because even in a social playlist you never know if you are going to win super easily against a bunch of 1 ranks or 5 ranks or if you are going to lose terribly because you get matched up with 45’s and 50’s. This is why it not only needs to get brought back as a ranking system of the game but it needs to be shown IN-GAME, that way you at least know what you are up against before the match starts. Also when you’re playing ranked matchmaking there is no greater feeling of leveling up based on your skill, instead of how much you play or how many challenges you can do to be able to unlock weapons.
This is perfect timing for my next point… No unlockable weapons or armor abilities! Anything that is unlockable should be strictly cosmetic. No matter how balanced the game is it is just not the same to have loadouts in a game like Halo and I’ve personally hated it since it was implemented in Reach. All weapons should be placed strategically around the map because the maps actually BECOME something instead of a place to just shoot and kill everyone. You have to learn the maps, where the powerups spawn, and where the weapons spawn, and where the power weapons spawn. This was heavily let down in Halo 4, the maps barely had any weapons around it due to ordnance drops and the way they made the loadouts. The reason older maps were so praised was because it was about who could control the maps the best. Not who can camp the one spot in Abandon the best and spawn an ordnance and camp some more.
haha, just kidding but really if you ever go try to play Team Doubles on Halo 4 the only map you will get is Abandon. And don’t get me wrong, it is a good map, if it had the right strategic elements placed around the map.
Back to maps: I personally think that no loadouts should be implemented unless you are changing your armor. Everything needs to be map based.
Different weapons for different map types and game modes, and different armor abilities for different game modes and map types.
Just because the user interface pre-game isn’t as pretty with all those loadout options doesn’t mean that the game can’t be more fun than its predecessors.
Like I said these are all my personal opinions about how I’m hoping Halo 5 might be on Xbox One but I feel like they are going to delve more into what they have showcased in Halo 4.
TL;DR: Bring back 1-50, no loadouts with good reasoning, make everything map based.
