How good would halo be if this were to happen

What if Microsoft would stop pouring in millions of dollars on Call of duty esports and start supporting their own game, Halo. ? I mean people aren’t going to buy the xbox one because of call of duty, but people will because of Halo. Esports must come to halo. The competitive scene is what is greatly missing on halo. 343 you need to talk to your buds.

I’m not a fan of Esports, MLG, Clans and the garbage that comes with the centering multiplayers around that demographic. Things like “CoD:Ghosts Clan Wars” and tailoring numerous game modes to placate Esports, MLG, and Clans makes online multiplayers less fun for amateur gamers like me. It causes the entire online community to completely break down into teams vs randoms or teams vs teams and matches of randoms vs randoms rarely occur, so if you like to play by yourself you have to be exceptional because you are going to be playing against insurmountable odds and that ruins the fun for guys like me.

The thing is that MLG and the competitive scene will be where the audience is and hence the money.
The scene is currently missing in Halo not because it is uncompetitive (since you can actually fairly play it competitively) but because Halo just failed to inspire and entertain the vast majority for a list of reasons.
So, Halo has simply not the required audience at the moment the competitive scene would need or rather want.

Besides, as harsh as it may sound but I think Halo should definitely not focus on attracting the competitive community or specifically MLG. Actually, I think it shouldn’t focus on catering to a specific community in general.

It should focus on being a game that is unique and entertaining and inspiring for the vast majority.
Once you achieved that, the competitive scene will come and develop naturally.

CoD Ghosts isn’t really centered to eSports…
The Clan Wars are not eSports it’s just “who gets the most wins in a few days”.
The most clans are not even good enough to win at least one GB-Match.
The problem is that eSports isn’t supported enough to keep super-competitive players out of the casual matchmaking. And why would you criticize the game to promote players to play in teams? The only problem is the matchmaking system that doesn’t match you up with the same number of players in your party.
It’s weird to see how many casuals try to find as many arguments as possible when they hear the words “eSports”, “competitive” or “MLG”.
Remember Halo 3? It was great to have ranked playlist to be super-serious about the game and social to goof around. But that’s what’s missing in current games and ruins the experience for everyone.
So please stop to bash everything that’s related to “eSports” or “MLG”, it brings more to the community than you might think.

Pretty much this.

Microsoft’s offering of support is a drop in the bucket compared to what CoD’s own developers are doing.

Microsoft may give them the discs and DLC, but it’s mostly paid for by the companies making CoD themselves.

If you think that people won’t buy Xbox One because of Call of Duty or any other game outside of Halo then you’re delusional and deluding yourself. Titanfall alone increased sales in Xbox Ones. Halo isn’t the only power juggernaut in the gaming circle.

Whether esports comes to Halo or not is not important. What is important is starting with proper gameplay that can carry competitive play and then applying e-sports and MLG on top of that when necessary.

I agree with both statements.
As another person had said in this thread, after the game can house very great gameplays and competitiveness, then eSports will develop naturally.

You know Halo is in bad shape when the casuals miss the hardcore players.

Maybe this time we will all get along…probably not though.

A game can cater to both audience’s it’s not really hard. All hardcore’s want is a good starting weapon, good 4v4 maps, toggle sprint option, and descope back. Casuals just want a fun game.

And we both obviously want a good ranking system, it may be for different reasons. Hardcores want to play with the best of the best, and casuals don’t

That way we only have to deal with eachother in social, like Halo 2 and 3… the good ol’ days.

And there is always going to be angry 16 year olds with MLG in their GTs, but they would be there with or without any support from any competitive league.
