Do you think it will take a half decent team of 4 using callouts to beat a team of Spartan bots? Or will most players be able to steamroll them?
343 have confirmed the bots will be as follows. They also won’t “cheat” which means they won’t know where your re if you aren’t on radar, won’t have snap aimbot style aiming, excellent news.
Judging by the Inside Infinite, sounds like the ODST and Spartan level bots will be skillful and challenging.
If I were to rank them on H5’s system, probably around high Gold or Platinum levels. Maybe Spartan is low Diamond. But I imagine higher skilled players will have a relatively easy time with them. I’m not saying they’ll steam roll them 50-3, but I’d imagine it’ll be fairly skewed.

Recruit/Marine level bots will be easier to deal with than ODST/Spartan level bots but none of them have an artificial difficulty curve with health or damage.
the harder bots are more able and willing to use the tools at their disposal than the easier bots. Nevertheless they made a point to not underestimate them solely on the basis of being AI.
will “most” players be able to steam roll them? Depends on the scaling of difficulty. We have to be careful using the term most as realistically, we cant gauge the skill level of most players. I expect many will be able to do the second difficulty comfortably.
The fact they won’t have damage or health scaling based on their difficulty, they just act smarter (based on the word of Joe Staten) is very intriguing and more promising. And has me more excited to see how they work and actually fight them. So from what we were told they seem far more robust than just some training dummies I thought they would be.

One step closer to maybe having forgeable AI. Very exciting.
Looks like they’re starting us off at “Marine” level. Boo. Just let us pick.
i think Spartan level will be only good enough to get a warm up in. Maybe test something out (like new controller settings). All other bots will suck. (Recruit and marine don’t even dodge nades…)
I have a feeling that spartan bots will more efficiently know when you are aiming at them and what direction to go to throw that off. They will also better “communicate” everything going on with their bot pals. Probably some terrifyingly awesome tricks up their sleeves too, if an ODST grappleshots at players to melee finish them
I’m not a programmer or anything and I don’t work with AI. But I REALLY hope the bots can actually "understand’ the game. Taking CS for example, bots used to be literally brainless just running around and shooting everything they saw moving. It got better after Valve made an update by feeding them player’s games or something like that, making them act more like actual players (even though it’s still not very good). Something like that or even like Forza does would be great, basing bots on how players actually play, being aggressively, passively, etc.
(again, I might be talking about something impossible since I’m not fully into how bots work, would like to get a reply from someone with more understanding of it)
It’s probably gonna be programming from the campaign infantry and stuff like that. I mean yeah it’ll be improved but I don’t expect it to be anything I haven’t seen in other games.
The bots will either assassinate you every time without fail, or 360 no scope you whenever they get the sniper rifle. I mean, it’s only fair, right? But seriously, I think they’re going to be pretty difficult at ODST and Spartan levels.
They said something about them keeping track of power weapons which I hope means that the bots will be setting themselves up to contest the map at certain points. Effectively timing the powerups/weapons.
Hopefully the Spartan bots are set to roam strong sections of the map and stuff like that. Would be helpful to newer players to see what these bots are doing so they themselves can replicate the playstyle in multiplayer.
The bots sound pretty solid OP. They respond to their environment, and play smarter at higher difficulties without resorting to becoming bullet sponges. We just need to test out their intelligence to see if they hold up to how they were described.
I think the Spartan bots are going to be very good. If Joe Staten himself finds the ODST-level bots challenging, I imagine the Spartan ones are really tough. Can’t wait to try them out myself.

Do we know much about him as a player? I can’t imagine he gets to play as much as the community and I know from history most Bungie employees are understandably pretty average at the game with most being older and having families, commitments and other games they play in their spare time.
I’m wondering if Spartan level bots are going to feel like playing Vs Onyx players, or maybe they’ll be Platinum. Very interesting to know how advanced they will be and how much effort is required to take them down.
I saw someone say two tiers of bots don’t even dodge grenades so should be extremely easy to wipe those two tiers out without much effort. Hopefully the bits are a bit more adaptable and can’t be beaten by an abusable strategy which unfortunately is usually the case.
