How get the Forward Unto Dawn Cracked like it does?

Can anyone tell me, why the FuD cracked like it did (in 2 pieces) after the Halo Ring Firing?
Was it just coincidence?
Did someone changed the taget of the portal? (I saw some theories for that.)
Or was it hit by the Halo-Ring and the Chief is nor on “his great journey”?

Last one would be funny, 'cuz that would mean the prophets where right =D.

While it was halfway through the portal the destination was changed, so one half was sent back to Earth and when Chief’s half went through he arrived at the Legendary Planet.

yeah cause if chief didnt make it through the portal he would have been killed by halo.

…what?

The portal nearly closed when the second half of the Forward Unto Dawn went through. The coordinates changed. We don’t have another explanation right now because we don’t know how the portal works.

Portals, how do they work?

I’ve heard some people say that Mendicant Bias was responsible for sending the Chief’s half to the Legendary Planet. That would make sense, considering that Bias has been helping the Chief to make up for his own betrayal against the forerunners. Maybe his work isn’t finished :open_mouth:

Read the terminals on Legendary (especially the last one).

Mendicant is no more, Offensive will be the new AI in this trilogy.
