I think it should go back to the Forunner Flood War. then it should skip to the birth of the Innies and then to the Orion project. Then skip to the the beginnings of the Spartan II program. Then Reach and finally the Trilogy.
i thought that the prologue would only cover the events of the past games but it would be cool to go back even further

I hope it’s pretty in-depth, I haven’t played Halo 2 in years and don’t feel like doing it again because it’s not over Xbox Live. I hope it covers right from the very beginning of Reach, it is completely unnecessary to go any further unless it has something to do with the rest of the campaign.
It should show parts from the original trilogy.
I just want it to cover the main trilogy. PoA finds Halo, Chief escapes with Cortana, they get a bad pilot and the Sunday Pilot crashes into Halo while the Autumn crashes on Halo, everyone except Chief and Cortana dies in the crash, they rescue the scattered Marines and technicians, Chief, Cortana, and Fireteam Team Charlie rescue Keys from the Truth and Reconcilliation, Chief and several Marines search for the Silent Cartographer, finds it, descends in a tunnel and ascends when a Grunt was sniffing around, Chief and numerous marines fight their way to the control room, Chief encounters the Flood, meets 343 GS, gets the index, finds out the truth about Halo, try to find Keys in the Flood infested T&R, finds him in a Proto-Gravemind, grabs Keys’ Neural implants, goes through an epic warthog run, destroys an expensive Halcyon-class Cruiser, escapes in a Longsword.
Chief defends Cairo Station, lands and fights the Covenant in Mombassa, follows Regrets carrier, Thel becomes the Arbiter and kill the Heretic leader, Chief arrives at Delta Halo and kills Regret, takes a swim, Thel goes to Delta Halo and fight the flood to find the index, gets betrayed by the Brutes, Chief and Thel meet in the cluthes of the Gravemindas he recites bad poetry, Chief gets sent to High Charity to kill Truth, Truth escapes with the index, and Chief leaves Cortana behind in High Charity, promising to come back, meanwhile, Thel fights the Loyalists with his fellow Elites and allied Grunts, along with Hunters and causes extreme amounts of “Hunter Violence”, kills Tartarus, the Covenant Separatists and the UNSC ally, and Chief says “Sir, Finishing this Fight” when he gets near Earth so the UNSC doesn’t kill him along with the Dreadnought.
Chief crashes on Earth, wakes up, aims his pathetic magnum in Thel’s mouth until Johnson tells John that the elites and the UNSC are allies, Chief get’s tipsy and gets slows down during the Cortana and eventually the Gravemind moments, the duo rescues Johnson, they defend Crows Nest, Chief blows it up, Chief drives a warthog to Voi, Chief fights a Scarab, destroys an AA gun, the Flood arrives on Earth, Chief destroys the Cruiser that the Flood arrives in, leaves with a number of UNSC Marines and ODSTs and Elites to the Ark, they arrive, Rtas 'Vadam commands the Elite ships in space while Chief and Thel takes the ground action, they make a, Epic Final Assault on the Covenant and kill Truth, right before then, they ally with the Flood, afterwards the Flood betray them, they escape, see an unfinished Installation 04__, Chief rescues Cortana, they find Thel burning Flood like theres no tomorrow, Chief, Cortana, and Thel escape High Charity, they scale the Alpha Halo Control Room, Spark kills Johnson, John kills Spark, Chief, Thel, and Cortana make a Second Epic Warthog Run while Halo blows up, they get to the FuD, Thel gets to Earth in the front half, while Chief goes into Cryosleep in the Aft section.__
And then, Halo 4 begins…
Halo 4 is said to focus a bit more on master chief. So if the censored screen during the connen interview says anything…my money is on the orgins of the spartan project (mainly chief) following through the covenant war and ending with the events of halo 3.

they’ll probably just cut bits and pieces from the previous halo games and put them together.
I hope it shows scenes from other games in halo 4’s engine that would make my day.
To be honest, a lot of the options you made are great starting points, it really all depends on the purpose 343i has that should determine how far the prologue should go.
depends if 343 includes Fred, Linda and Kelly in the game.
No prologue, teach those who don’t know with Cortana when need be.
It should have:
A brief explanation of the Covenant, a brief explanation of the UNSC and the Spartan program.
Then it should cover Halo Reach-3.
It can easily be done in about 2-4 minutes.
Personally, I’d like to see a prologue go back to the Forerunner/Human war. Even if just a small bit. It would help with continuity as well as bring people up to speed as to why the Forerunners were our enemies in more of a way than the previous games have showed.
Plus, there could be easter eggs in that prologue that could set us up for a Prequel trilogy set during that time. (Which I’m really hoping for)
