My tactics are usually more stealth/guerilla-based, so I try to make my armor convey that: Light and hard to spot, but with small, “intimidating” features. So throughout the games, I usually create an ODST/Scout/Recon hybrid, and I like to think it looks pretty good. How about you? Does your armor define you in any way?
I like to play Sniper/DM a lot, so my choices were related to that.
Operator CNM Helmet
Security (Blade) Shoulder
Tactical Patrol Chest
Tactical/Tacpad
FJ/Para Leg Armor

Very nice combination!
I always like to have my armor be an extension of my personality. First and foremost, it just has to look good. All of its components need to have some semblance of uniformity and mesh well with each other even when they’re from completely different armor sets. The colors need to coordinate with the armor in a pleasing look and with each other if there’s more than one shade used. Typically my armor will be painted in some sort of blue. Secondly, it needs to have a contoured, feminine design that hugs the figure instead of having it explode in every direction. Armor should flow effortlessly with the curvature of your body. Lastly, it needs to be minimalistic and humble in design. I don’t want it to be extremely flashy and garner so much attention.

I definitely agree that they need to mesh well together. I use a variety of armor types and I like to think they go together well. And while, I admit, mine might be considered flashly (maybe, I don’t know), it’s only because it was the best option I had, you know? If there was more armor that was both simple and imposing (like Halo Wars Spartan armor or Roland’s armor from Headhunters), I’d definitely wear that instead. That, and if I got to keep my GUNGNIR helmet and maybe a matching robotic arm (?), then I’d go for it, no doubt.
Mine usually has a traditional/ CQB layout in mind. I use the legacy armor a lot in my loadout.
Halo 3:CQB Chest Plate, Security Left shoulder, Right is Recon or EVA, Helmet is the Mk. V.
Halo Reach: Breacher Chest Plate, Scout Left Shoulder, ODST Right Shoulder, Helmet is the Mk.V
I haven’t found an Armor set I like in Halo 4. I’m not a big fan of the Gen 2 design. My colors are typically Steel with a Green or Silver Stripe as we haven’t had a decent shade of Green since Halo 1. I liked the Sage/ Dark green coloring from that game. The left shoulder plate is typically bigger than the right one for more protection while advancing in a firefight.
The emblem I like to use is as militaristic as you can get I think. It is the Hawk with crossed swords on a shield. Shield is green, Hawk is brown and the Swords are Orange/Gold.
As a sangheili player, I don’t have much options, but I will see what I can state. It needs to have an empirical atmosphere, along with the authority in the style of a Naval officer. It should be a little decorative and ceremonial, but it must be very combat practical as well. Pretty much, what Reach pulled off with the species.
My armor on Halo 4’s a Recruit Helmet, Aviator Chest, Air Assault shoulders, Xv-27 Shifting, LG-50 Bulk and my colors are red with blue stripes. I guess what it says is that I don’t wanna be heavily armored but with some good armor to fight, the colors are to insipire faith in the battlefield (red) but peace once the battle is over (blue)

Very interesting idea with the colors. Are there any other colors with a meaning?

I’d have to agree about the Gen 2, it’s not nearly as impressive looking. In my opinion, if you’re looking for the nicest looking armor that could pass off as CQB, try either the Engineer or the Stalker.
I die a lot so I use the Breacher [R] chest piece
ODST for me. The helmet and the armour. I have been using it since I got Halo 3. (Before even ODST came out.) It is just a favourite of mine, and I think it says that I am passionate about Halo, like ODST’s are passionate about what they do. (Moreso then Spartans and marines, from what I can see.) Also I really like the huge visors.
I try to make my armor look as unique as possible. So Hayabusa, GUNGNIR, Locus, etc. Something to make the enemy think twice about shooting my rare, interesting head
I have no specific armor pieces, but I always like my spartan to be very agile looking and not bulky. I prefer female spartans too.
Swag
I like the recon helmet in all its reincarnations.
I love to pilot the Falcon and will always go for a shotgun over any other weapon.
Helmet: Pilot UA/HUL[3]
Chest: Collar/Breacher[R]
Right Shoulder: Security(Blade)
Left Shoulder: Commando
Knee Guards: GUNGNIR
Utility: Tactical/Softcase
Wrist: Assault/Breacher
Visor: Gold
Primary Colour: Silver
Secondary Colour: Orchid
Used those colours in every Halo game except from Combat Evolved. My Reach armour will always be my favourite. Really missed my pilot helmet in Halo 4.
Not sure it really relates to the topic, but I always sort of have a generic Spartan. I’ve noticed that whenever these games come out, people tend to equip the most bulky or obscure armor. I personally don’t like mixing armors because to me it doesn’t really make sense. I guess a Spartan who has been in service for a while would customize their armor but in order for me to do that, the armor has to look like it would work together. I love that we have such immense customization and I hope it gets only better as Halo goes on. I guess what my post amounts to is that I always try to be the most lore-friendly Spartan I can. I always where gold visors, my primary color is always forest green with white as my secondary (usually). I usually have armor that matches and whatever utility I can have. I love pouches and stuff like that on my armors. My armor also tends to be more slender or classic-Spartan size. Not overly bulky like Jorge’s armor.
I’ve always gone to the look of Recruit (Halo 4) or the standard Noble 6 in Reach, as examples, because I see my Spartan as one who is good at overall movement, clearly looks like a Human is beneath that suit and not too over the top in overall design.
If I had the Athlon armor, that would be it. Subtle, minimalistic and mostly the fact that it seems completely geared towards being as effective as possible. (which is what I do)
Halo 4 (360): I’m more of a background person then I am someone who stands out, and my armor seems to be just like that. It looks nice, but doesn’t stand out. The colors help by not having a rainbow spartan, not that color is bad.
Forgot what I wear in Reach but I know it’s got the Security helmet
