How does this happen.

I don’t get why Halo 5 is getting so much criticism over the content it had at launch. the reason I don’t get it is cause recently I’ve been playing a game with less content, no campaign and barely any multiplayer maps\game modes and I know for a fact it’s more popular than Halo. The game I’m talking about is overwatch. How can people be ok or crazy about this game and give Halo so much -Yoink-. For the record I like bolth games.

Overwatch doesn’t have 15 years of a standard and pattern being set. There is no precedent for overwatch to call upon and no other game to compare to. It’s a new release.

Halo 2 had more than Halo 1.
Halo 3 had more than Halo 2.
Halo Reach had more than Halo 3.
Halo 4 had LESS than Reach.
Halo 5 had less than Halo 4, Halo Reach, Halo 3, and Halo 2 and even fewer gametypes than Halo 1.

See the trends? Upwards and downwards?

Because overwatch offers a variety of gameplay styles with all of the different champions it offers, it has a smoother more enjoyable gameplay
it offers game styles that suit both competitive and casual players and appeals to a much wider audience then halo
in short, it’s a better put together game

I feel like Halo 5 has more content then reach and 4 with all the unlocks, forge items ools, and maps. It might not be what everyone wants but it’s there

Forge wasn’t in the game when it came out so it cannot be considered content present at launch.

As for unlocks, those are incredibly easy for a developer to produce and spam to the player. Why do we need 4 skins for a warthog? I dunno, but we have them. And I promise they didn’t take much time (if any) to make.

In the end it doesn’t matter. As I have said in other posts, 343i told everyone a full week before the game released what content there was at launch. They revealed Warzone, the REQ system, every Arena gametype, even that Forge wasn’t there at launch. In the end, it is just a bunch of uninformed consumers who have most likely spent more time in this game than in other games that cost the same amount with “more” content at launch.

What sane person looks at a game and says “hmmm, looks fun, but I don’t think there is $60 worth of content. Oh well, I’ll buy it now because I trust a corporation who’s sole purpose is to make money will release enough to make it worth $60”

Did they tell us what would NOT be in the game? Only in major cases like split screen and Forge. It honestly felt like each time they went up on stage to talk about Halo 5 and answer questions, we got more answers of “no”, “there’s no demand for that”, “we will see after launch’” and “maybe” than "yes that feature is returning.

You are aware that they said their reasoning for the removal of split screen was that people have busy lives and it’s just not practical anymore, right? Like, thats what was actually said. That wasn’t them just saying something wouldn’t return, that was them spouting something off and making entirely untrue assumptions.

Then go on MCC and find me a BTB game without a guest present.

They revealed what gametypes would be in matchmaking playlists. At no point did they say “oddball isn’t in the game at all, king of the hill isn’t in the game at all, race isn’t in the game at all,” and so on and so on.

true. But at launch we still had more maps more game types, more play list, and a competitive ranking system,

If I remember correctly, halo 2 also had very little content at launch. Also, when you are comparing Halo 5’s content to halo ce’s, you are comparing matchmaking playlists to custom game playlists. If you compare custom games to custom games (which is the way you should’ve compared), then halo 5 has WAY more content.

The game shouldve been $25-$30 for the utter lack of content.

Well, if you don’t include Forge maps and (honestly) lazy remixes, the game had less maps. Gametypes? Brother, the game had fewer gametypes than Halo 1. Halo 1. Like, the first Halo. Ever created. On a console two generations older than what we have now.

Halo 2-Reach all had competitive ranks in them. The only mainline Halo game without them is Halo 4.

And that’s being generous.

It most certainly does matter, I expect value for money and I have supported the Halo franchise for over a decade, I used to just buy all the Halo games because it was Halo, a brand I had faith in. Not anymore, as things stand Halo 6 will be the first Halo I will not pre order to have at launch. I may not bother at all. Depends on 343.

But is it very flattering for your argument to realize that Halo 2 had a comparable amount of content, but it’s over a decade old and built for a console two generations inferior to the Xbox one?

not counting forge maps or remixes I’m pretty sure we still have more than over watch at launch your forgetting warzone

Consoles generations don’t have too much of an effect on content. The Xbox one basically just upgrades the graphics, size of worlds, player count, and frame rate from the original xbox.

I wouldn’t know how many maps overwatch has. I’m comparing it to older Halo games, since you were curious as to why fans were saying Halo 5 had little content. That’s where the frustration comes from.

Warzone just replaced BTB at launch. It was not an addition, just a replacement for something else.
