My friend and I stopped trying to play 3 weeks ago. We wanted to wait until we could actually play. Finally we tried again last night. Here was our experience-
Game 1.
Got right into the first game. Had a great time. We were temporarily disbanded after the match, but thrown back together at the carnage report. It popped up on the screen as if I’d sent him an invite when he rejoined. This is quite the band-aid approach, but whatever. At that point we were together, however I couldn’t hear him. He could only hear me. I had to kick him, then re-invite. Then we were all good again.
Game 2.
We got right in, however we lost communication with each other as soon as the match started. We were unable to communicate until after the match when we were thrown back together at the carnage report. Then I left the post game report and that caused us to be disbanded. I sent him another invite and he joined, however we could not get back into a match. My friend said his screen went black. We both restarted the game at this point since we couldn’t get into a matchmade game.
Game 3.
Restarting the game (both of us) fixed that issue. We started another game and got right in. However, we once again lost communications with each other during the game. I could however speak to other people that were on my team, but not the friend I had invited. After the game we were rejoined at the carnage report and we could talk, but I was unable to leave the carnage report. I had NO option to go back to the lobby. I have a picture of this.
We gave up here. There were lots of other issues during these games, especially with the audio. I can’t believe how poorly this game is functioning this long after release. If the updates continue to be band--Yoink!- I am really afraid it’s never going to be right. Multiplayer needs a MAJOR overhaul to look anything like a completed, quality product. I am so disappointed with this game.

I appreciate that info but I really doubt that’s the problem in this case. I will give Live the benefit of the doubt here considering this game’s woes. We are able to chat just fine until we try to play MCC games.
Random info and tips.
Game Chat has multiple issues right now and sometimes I can only hear the other team. In halo 4 there were times like during map loading where you couldn’t talk or hear teammates and something similar is happening at times with game chat in MCC. There has been multiple times when my teammates could hear me but I couldn’t hear them.
Party Chat seems to have worked better for me since launch than Game Chat. Issues with Party Chat are random disconnects and you have to snap party chat and let it re-load and then you can communicate with the people in the party once again. I also have had issues where I’m talking with someone in party chat but then I go to party chat and it only shows me in there. I think some of the issues are some confusion differentiating between party chat and game chat at this time and also issues with the Xbox one mic and players who use the mic adapter…
I also have more luck inviting players through Party Chat rather than Roster. Roster only shows like half of the people that are actually online, takes forever to load, and the invites don’t send half of the time. If you invite through party chat it seems to be more consistent and inviting through friends list shows you everyone that’s online.
Depending on how well XBL is operating on that day Party Chat is usually better for me. Game Chat does work its just very finicky(like everything in MCC).
In reference to your picture it shows “uploading team stats” at the top right, usually this just loads for a second then you hit b to back out and you re-group with your team. I am not sure how long you waited though.
I remember back with halo 2 and 3 if you were having NAT problems (ie your nat isnt open) you might be able to connect and get games fine, but couldnt ear other players or only certain players so check that. Also, i know there were issues with Party Chat that were screwing up other parts of the game, as far as my experience is concerned that issue was resolved a couple of patches ago. You might want to try to chat Via skype and see how that works.
