How does the ranking system work?

All the games that I have played so far has been with my clan however we are all at different levels
someone explain this to me?
I am the lowest in my entire clan however I have the highest k/d
We have the same amount of games played and win/loss is the same so can someone explain this to me?

There’s an xp rank like halo 4 and a skill rank like halo 3. They’re completely separate, the xp pretty much rewards you for playing but the skill ranks actually affects team balancing and skill

Based more on wins/losses. This post explains it pretty well:

But me and my clan have the SAME wins/losses we have been in all our games together

My best guess is that it also takes other factors into consideration. Just because your kill/death may be the highest, it’s possible that the formula involves assists as well (KDA vs KD). If this is the case, it’s also likely that your performance in the match against higher level opponents may have an effect on initial placement. For example, despite your higher K/D, if your individual opponents were ranked lower, and your teammates were taking out opponents ranked higher, their initial placement may have been higher.

At this point it’s just speculation as they haven’t disclosed the actual formula. You can see however beyond your initial placement that movement up and down the ranks is based on win/loss performance and the rank of the opposing team.
