How does the CSR exactly work?

I was wondering if anyone knew the specifics of how the CSR works in Halo 5? I understand the tiers, you win you go up. But the Onyx and Champion levels are were I’m confused. I know that to get into champion you have to be in the top 200, but is there a way to track this? It would be kinda upsetting if I have to just keep playing and hope I get into the top 200 rather than being able to see exactly where I stand.

Also, I don’t know how to feel about this game yet. I feel 343i definitely played us in how they marketed this game. I thought it was going to be an even Chief vs. Locke but it was mostly all about Locke. I liked the campaign but I feel like they’re getting rid of Chief slowly but surely. It was a decent story but it moved too fast I think and there were a lot of holes I wish were filled. But I’m sure if I were to go back and read the books I’d understand a little more. For instance, I went into a complete Halo 5 blackout after the initial trailer. I didn’t watch anything that was released because I like to for my own opinions about games. So it was a nice surprise to see Blue Team back together but I have no Idea how that happened.

As for MP, I like playing it, but I wish it had more competitive playlists and some of the oldies like Team Snipers and Team Doubles. I’m into the whole MLG playlists and Team Hardcore in Halo 2. That’s what I enjoy playing the most. And 343i brought on a bunch of Pros to test out the MP but I feel like they’re trying to move it towards a more casual competitive if you guys know what I mean. I really want a BR or DMR start with no motion tracker and all that jazz. That’s just how I like to play. I know I’ll get hate for that but it’s what I enjoy.

Anyways, CSR’s any help there? lol

There’s some website with the ranks and CSR of everyone in game apparently, but I can’t remember what it is.

EDIT: halotracker.com

Also, no doubt they’re moving away from the Chief. After 6, I doubt 343 will keep him around. 6 games is a pretty long time to have someone as a main character.

I checked Halotracker, is the HTR score what I’m looking for?

Yeah I understand 6 games is a lot. But I’m not tired of playing as Master Chief. Are you? The missions in Halo 5 with Chief in my opinion were the best. I liked Locke and his story, but I feel like him and Osiris could be a separate Halo game like Reach and ODST were. I like the spin offs because I know going in it’s not about Chief, it’s about the new characters, With 5 I expected to be the Hard -Yoink- of Master Chief and to beat the crap out of Locke, but that didn’t happen. I still enjoyed it but I didn’t know exactly what I was getting into.

I’ll be honest here, I have no idea. I know the website tracks it, but I can’t figure out for the life of me how everyone is ranked. It’s set up so strange. At this point you might only really be able to play until the game throws you into champion, though god knows I’m not having a good time of that.

Also, yeah, I kind of am getting tired of Chief. I dunno if Locke is any better, as they really didn’t develop him too much, but I wouldn’t object to seeing Osiris as the protagonist squad after 6, especially if it means I get to see more Buck. Chief is just getting a bit stale. He was a neat character to play in the original games, but he’s already basically a fully developed character at this point. There’s not much more to be done with him other than finish up his story. There’s nothing new about playing as him anymore.

You can see the CSR leaderboards here (NOT HTR):

Thanks!

But I looked at this and it’s based off the HTR score, which I’m assuming is unique to Halotracker. So according to that, my HTR is 688 and I’m 10150 in the world. But, since it’s according to HTR, I’m ranked lower than people in Diamond and gold tiers so I don’t think this leader board is correct.

Edit: I was looking at the wrong thing! My bad!

I don’t want master chief to go either but I’m preparing myself for it! Its gonna be hard and I’m sure they are going to kill him in a blaze of glory cause I can’t see him just fading out! All I have to say is they have to do it right and it’s gonna be hard!

Once you hit Onyx, it shows your raw CSR score. To bring it up, win. To lower it, lose. Once you break into the top 200 of that playlist, you’ll reach champion. Whatever number beneath your Onyx rank is, is your CSR.

i was wondering about this as well

When chiefs story ends, for me at least the campaign will end.
