Hey Guys,
Recently switched from playing MLG and Team Double to play a few games Big Team Battle, and one of the game types was Team Slayer, first to 150 kills wins.
In this game, I got 55 kills and 9 deaths and didn’t use a vehicle the whole game, and after the game, in the carnage report, it said I had 39 kills and 6 deaths.
Im basically leaving this post to ask how the Kills and Deaths get worked out because im really confused at why im not getting the full number of kills i got in the game!
Any help will be great
It sounds like you were playing Heavies. In Heavies, headshots count for a ‘bonus’ point. I think there might be other medals that also count, but definitely headshots.
In regular BTB Slayer, a kill is a kill. However, occasionally you’ll see the post-game carnage report have a higher kill count for you then your actual score. This is because for some reason, the post-game carnage report counts vehicle kills: i.e. a guy in a Ghost counts as 2 kill. In game, you would only have 1 point added to your score.

But even if some of my kills weren’t head shots, they should surely still count as 1 kill?
Are you saying if you dont kill someone in a particular way, the kill doesnt count towards your carnage report?
If you blew up a vehicle say a warthog with a driver + gunner it will appear as 3 kills in the carnage report since vehicles count as kills also.

Yes, all kills count, but like I said, you get a ‘bonus’ point for headshots, meaning that if you get a headshot kill, it will add 2 to your score (once again, only in Heavies).
The important thing to note here is that “Score” and “Kills” are two different things. Your “Score” can be affected by various settings, and is not in the post-game carnage report (but it is what you see when you press “Back” during the game). “Kills” in the post-game carnage report reflects the number of times you killed a player, or a player-driven vehicle, without any sort of ‘bonus’ points.
You probably played BTB Heavies, which gives extra score if you make headshots, stucks and pummel kills. So basically thats why

Also ninjas and assassinations.
All these are two points per kill, so if you got 10 sword kills in a game, you would get 20 points, but the carnage report would show just 10 kills.

Splatters also count as two points in BTB Heavies; but what’s a “ninja”?

Where you backsmack somebody without doing the assassination animation. (try saying that 10 times fast)
