I haven’t been able to keep up to date with all the footage coming out of PAX, but I did manage to see a small bit of an MLG player using the Boltgun briefly.
For the life of me, I couldn’t tell what the gun was doing. It looks to be chargable like the PP and when it charges four fins, two on either side, flap open until you fire the gun.
So, is the Boltgun basically a reskinned PP? Is it a Magnum-type weapon?
The overcharge for the Boltshot is a mauler like burst which consumes 5 shots of the 10 round clip. The shot fires as soon as it finishes charging, instead of being able to hold it temporarily like the plasma pistol. I’ve heard that it is capable of a 1 shot kill at extreme close range, but from the footage I’ve seen it seems quite difficult to pull off. The standard single fire appears similar to the plasma pistol, as I do not think it is headshot capable.
That’s all I can think of for now, but if you have more questions feel free to ask since I might have forgotten something.

I’m a little disappointed that you can’t hold the charge.

That’s why I think you should be able to hold it. It seems nearly impossible to get a hit.

I’m personally thinking that this is going to make the weapon too difficult to use.
It’s already a secondary class weapon and outgunned by all the other weapons but now it’s apparently going to be outclassed even by other secondaries. Both the Magnum and the PP have much better ease of use.

Yup. That’s why I suggest the Mauler to be added as a secondary unless they change this. It looks pretty awful right now. Cool concept, but not effective in combat.

Personally wanted it to be the Boltok of the handguns if you catch my drift. Mauler would have been great in H3 if it wasn’t just half a Shotgun.

The charge shot? I would say a bit less than Mauler range, since it is a one-hit kill if all the pellets connect.

Charge and uncharged.
Sounds like a weapon I’m going to hate using and actively plan to avoid.
