Does anyone understand how sbmm works? If you purposely play bad will you eventually play worse people? Ive been playing social matches and ive been having zero fun in these constant sweat fests. Im considering tanking my sbmm score to get easier matches
Have a browse through some of these threads. You’ll find some good explanations in there:

Yes if you play bad you will play against worse people. But unfortunately the system is very good at making you MMR go up as soon as you play some decent matches, while very slow at making your MMR drop when you play badly.
I had nights where i was constantly underperforming but the matchmaking was simply refusing to put me up against average players instead of onyx players
I guess 343i knows what we’re thinking. It’s funny how this MMR system is more well thought out than our progression system
If you tank you’ll get a few softer games… but it will only take a couple of dominating performances to “rank” you up again.
Which is what is supposed to happen. You don’t get to “chill” at the expense of someone else having a miserable time.
The best way to reduce the “sweat” is to loosen up your playstyle. Be free and adventurous. Have fun and don’t focus so much on the result. Providing you don’t fall back into “sweaty” habits your MMR will adjust and you be matched accordingly.
Of course, you should still be matched against a similar standard of opponent. Matches will still be evenly pitched. But you now have a non-ranked mindset and can enjoy what ever unfolds.
I hear you. My issue is that when the challenges are to “win matches”, then I will surely have a ranked mindset.
