I mean cortana wants to have a universe ruled with a iron fist (I think thats what she wants), but she doesn’t want to outright destroy it? So how does this work? The whole point of the guardians is to stop all war, and make humanity whether they like it or not, to stop fighting,
Well there can b multiple theories
1 in the books guilty spark is still alive so he could have taken over her since she sings his tune
2 some of the halo rings were prisons for the flood so she could threaten to release it if the other species don’t obey.
3 she could just say -Yoink- it and light it
Pretty sure she is going to find another Composer, or build her own, and combine it with a Halo so she can compose whole swathes of the galaxy if she wanted to. The Didact tried this after Halo 4 but was stopped by Chief and Blue Team.

Interesting.

so wait, they went through three halos to wipe the flood off the universe just to release it over a petty argument?

also guilty spark wants to make sure the halo is well kept, and wants to destroy the flood, but there is not much flood in the universe to destroy, so he’s probably sweeping the floors on that ring
That wasn’t even Guilty Spark’s tune that Cortana was humming, but a humming version of the background music in the prologue cutscene with Halsey and Cortana.

Oh… Well then I have been most misinformed… Damn this is embarrassing.
Well, if the guardians were taken down (unlikely as that might seem at the end of H5) Cortana would most certainly want a backup plan to enforce her rule. You can’t say the gal doesn’t plan ahead.

I think that notion is undermined by the fact she killed untold scores of beings just to activate the Guardians despite having 8 months to figure out a way to minimize casualties.

That was definitely not ‘his tune’.

Indeed.
To OP-
I’m still thinking logic plague from the Gravemind during the events of Halo 3/ the Evolutions story. Long theory to explain.
Second theory is the Domain didn’t cure rampancy, but keeps her from dying from it. This explains why she is still cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs

If a dictator ruled over your world with the power of a Guardian and a Halo ring, wouldn’t you be scared? I’m sure there’s some bigger meaning behind this new Halo, though, so we’ll just have to see.
