How does Resupply make logical sense?

For those of you who don’t know, Resupply is a combat armor mod/perk that enables players to pick up grenades off other players. However, given that the grenades are on the ground anyway, I don’t see how this makes sense. I can buy Firepower since we can’t spawn with power weapons and better weapons are probably more expensive for the UNSC to buy, but Resupply? The grenades are already on the ground.

Just someone tell me how this makes sense.

It’s a really dumb idea to be honest.

I don’t think it was a good specialisation at all. In every other Halo, you can pick up grenades, this is definitely a step in the wrong direction.

Yeah, it really made me mad. I cringe to say this, but it reminds of COD.

Apparently, 343 said that you can’T take grenades from the ground anymore without this perk…

just another example of perks ruining the game.

The perks don’t effect gameplay very drastically. It is just that this one is dumb.

I didn’t make this thread so people could cry about the Salmon like additions to Halo 4. I’m bringing up because it makes no sense from a logical perspective. Anyone can pick up a grenade, that’s my point.

Maybe Spartan IVs are fat like the Spartan IIIs are since S3s always panted while sprinting. Bending over to pick up grenades is probably too tiring without the armor mod.

  1. Maybe players won’t drop grenades? I have no idea whether this is the case but it seems like a possibility.
  2. Grenades probably don’t spawn on the map. Again, I’m only guessing.
  3. If you get 1 grenade to start, chances are everyone will throw their grenade before they die so there will be nothing for you to pick up anyway.
These scenarios would provide a good reason for this specialty to be included.

I personally don’t see the need for it, most players tend to get rid of their grenades before they die to spam them when they’re about to. So unless this allows you to pick up grenades regardless if they’ve used them it’s going to be useless.

My theory makes more sense.

This, I’m so used to running over a multitude of corpses and grabbing the grenades and ammunition that it’s second-nature to me in Halo.

Gameplay > Cannon

This doesn’t mean I agree/disagree with it.

Forgetting how to pick up small spheres has nothing to do with cannon.

It’s probably to stop the grenade spam we saw in games such as reach’s nuclear bombs. 'nades aren’t that useful anyway apart from sticky’s. EMP FTW!

Edit: You can now drop grenades as ordinance anyway so chill!

This.

There were far too many nukes in the place in Reach. It was one of the biggest concerns of the community back when Bungie was still on Halo.

Well if you want a canonical explanation for everything here’s my two cents.

I could picture a Spartan’s grenades like the thermal detonators used by Stormtroopers where each detonator must be activated by a code known only by that Stormtrooper and all the keys on the thermal detonator are unlabeled.
So perhaps resupply overrides that somehow.

But really it’s to cut down on grenade spam which I would consider to be a good thing.

My question is, why are you so worried about this? Whether or not there is a real answer to your question, it does not change the fact that resupply is a part of the game.

The way you’re looking at it sounds more like a canon problem than a gameplay problem to me. People forgetting how to pick up small spheres will not change the fact that now you can’t pick up grenades off of your enemies.

Plausible.

Covies never picked up grenades when walking over our corpses, even if they were plasma grenades.

Covies had a dead man’s switch on fuel rod gun and energy sword at the time of Installation 04 discovery.

UNSC has been known to take Covie things and replicate/improve them (Armor Lock, Spartan shielding).
